This Ikelite ultra compact housing is designed for the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 digital camera. It is an injection molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. The housing offers an unobstructed view of the camera's information and control functions and operates safely to a depth of 200'. Easy open latch along with drop in camera loading makes set-up a breeze. The housing is sized and weighted for near neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater.
A flash diffuser is included to improve lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used underwater. For optimum lighting underwater an optional external strobe is recommended. Ikelite strobes are brighter, recycle faster and offer wider coverage than the camera's flash. Being farther from the camera lens, the strobe reduces the illumination of particles in the water which helps eliminate backscatter.

Took the case and camera on my trip to the Grand Caymans. Didn't want a bulky camera and case. Becasuse the visibility is 100 feet + down there, the case and camera worked flawlessly. Pictures were sharp, well let and very coloful. Case stayed dry and I didn't have any fogging issues at all. Wonderful product by Ikelite and a great price from B&H.

As another reviewer noted, the dial is very hard to turn because of the offset and because the hard rubber can't grip the dial. I used it for five days on one trip, and on another trip 3 weeks later, the Tele button stuck down, making the external or internal strobes useless because I had to back away from the subject to get it in the frame, and the shutter lever would not return via the spring, so I had to return it after every shot. The best thing about it is that good shots are great, owing to the Stylus Tough 8000, and it's the smallest and lightest I've had in 20 years of doing underwater photo and video. Tip: make a diagram of the button cluster layout on white gaffer's tape with a Uniball 207 pen with labels for the ones you'll need, and put it on the side of a strobe, or on the front of the internal strobe blocking shield, or on a slate. My notes are still good after two trips.

All in all I am very impressed with the Ikelite 6230.80 housing for my Olypmus Stylus Tough 8000. It was very easy to get started up with thorough yet simple instructions on use and maintance. With A depth rating of 200' I no longer have to worry about going beyond 33' with my camera. The only downside was that some of the buttons did stick a little, but it's a small price to pay for the ability to share pictures and videos of my underwater adventures for years to come.

IKELITE has done it again. Simplicity, Reliability, and Durability all rolled into one housing. Being able to access all the controls while 120 FT underwater was phenominal.[...]

I like the feel of the housing and almost everything about it. However, the knob used to rotate the different settings is off center and barely moves the knob. It touches the knob almost half way, thus getting little if any tension to change settings. I prefer to return the housing and look for one made right for the Tough 8000.

The camera was in an IKLITE housing on a dive boat in Cozumel, the boat captain handed it to another diver to give to me, when I descended to 70 feet and realized the door to the housing was open, so I closed the door, did not take any pictures that day, soaked both the camera and housing in fresh water, and dried overnight. Amazingly it worked. The housing needed a bit more drying but it worked like a champ. I am sold! 12-07-09. I have 4 more days of diving in Cozumel to go!

The housing is very impressive backed up with over 40 years of experience. I feel that it was a good decision. I like the clear housing. It is really durable. I do not like that buttons are not marked and I also tried to paint on them but it does not work well.
