Reprising much of the design of classic reflectors used by the most famous historical astronomers, the Celestron FirstScope is a 3" reflector meant for tabletop viewing that's also a nice decorative scope. Movements are super-simple; just rotate the ball bearing turntable base where you need to, loosen the up/down locking knob, and point the tube to the area of the sky you're interested in. A pair of basic eyepieces supplied provide 15x & 75x magnification, but you can use any 1.25" eyepiece. Grab a star chart and set out to explore the sky as the greats from centuries past did with the FirstScope.

Comments about Celestron FirstScope 3.0"/76mm Reflector Telescope Kit:
This telescope is a bargain beyond even what I expected. It's a really good little telescope, especially if you already have some nicer eyepieces. For a 3" telescope that's barely bigger than 2 Coke cans, you can see some great stuff. If you're considering one for a child, it's probably better than you are likely to get even from more expensive scopes from a big box store. As long as they're patient and over about 10, this telescope is good enough not to disappoint them, but not expensive. The little Dobsonian mount is smooth and easy enough to track objects. The included eyepieces allow you to see Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons. Views of our own moon are incredible. It's the perfect size to take camping and is small and light enough to easily carry to dark places away from lights. It would be nice if it had better eyepieces, but that would make it cost a lot more. They're not great, but good enough. I don't think you can beat this quality or deal for double the price. Buy one for yourself, and one for a gift.

Comments about Celestron FirstScope 3.0"/76mm Reflector Telescope Kit:
I used this for a science expo project and my teacher, friend, and I love it. Although I wish I had it for the lunar eclipse but still amazing. My dad bought it but he likes to use too. Very good for a first time telescope.

Comments about Celestron FirstScope 3.0"/76mm Reflector Telescope Kit:
I bought for my 7 year old for his birthday. He was impressed by how well he could see the craters on the moon. We were even able to see a couple of Jupiter's moons.

Comments about Celestron FirstScope 3.0"/76mm Reflector Telescope Kit:
A great starter telescope particularly for small kids. However the lenses could have been of better quality. I did get this product with the accessory kit. The finderscope is difficult to use if the telescope is placed on a tabletop. Easy setup and easy to use telescope and a great value and would have received 5 stars if it came with better lenses.

Camped for a week in RMNP Longs Peak campground. Used the scope for day/night observation.
Rugged! No case and it held up to numerous abuses.

Comments about Celestron FirstScope 3.0"/76mm Reflector Telescope Kit:
The scope is stylish in apperance. The adjusting control is quite precise. The 20mm eyepiece produces a very sharp image, but the 4mm image is poor. Perhaps a better 4mm piece would have produced a better view.Even if the FirstScope had costed $80 I would have still have bought it.

This is a wonderful telescope for the price. The cost per square centimeter of reflector is excellent. Perfect for showing the young ones the heavens without having to worry about breaking.

Comments about Celestron FirstScope 3.0"/76mm Reflector Telescope Kit:
It's a good deal at the price, but it's worth investing in a new eyepiece.
