Have used this:
- Snorkeling
- On the beach
- In the pool
Recently used for downhill skiing. We were able to take video while skiing down the slopes. We attached the shoulder strap and left it on the outside of our coats all day long. We got great action and scenic pictures.

Comments about WP-DC31 Case for Canon PowerShot SD780 IS:
I'm using this case to protect my camera while mountain biking. I mount it to my seat post and point it backwards to take pictures while I ride. I did this most of last season and honestly expected the camera to be shaken to bits by now. The camera and case have been holding up extremely well. The case has some scratches and dings in it (close encounter with lava rocks), but it still works and is still water proof. I highly recommend this case if you are looking to toughen up your camera.
The case is easy to use and allows access to all the camera's features. I actually find it is easier to use the camera in the case than by itself. The camera is small and has small buttons. The case buttons are bigger and spaced out a bit more. I haven't tried it underwater, but I did not have trouble using it snowshoeing with gloves on.
The case will get scratched up if you abuse it like I do. I've got alot of fine scratches in the plastic from tossing it into packs. The part of the case in front of the lens is glass and is much more scratch resistant than the rest of the case. Small scratches and dust are far enough out of the focal plane that they don't show up. Large globs of mud do show up. I've also noticed some rub marks on the camera from the case. Mine does get bounced around pretty bad, so I'm not that surprised.
I just noticed that the case blocks the view finder and the AF assist beam. You can't get close enough to use the view finder anyway. Turn the AF assist beam off to save a bit of battery while in the case.
The two biggest draw backs are the cost and availability. The case can cost as much and sometimes more than the camera. The cases also seem to lag on availability compared to the camera. I bought my first case via auction since I could not find it at any camera shop or website. There seems to be a small window in which the camera and case are both in production.
All in all, this is a very good and very tough case. I've already purchased a second one.
For what it's worth, I did try a water proof bag first. That did not work that well. It protected the camera ok, but the pictures did not come out well. A hard case is really the way to go.

Great seal, buttons worked great. No problems down to 90ft. No fogging so far, but may need to use anti-fog drops (not including with housing). Shoulder strap was nice for the beach, wrist strap great underwater.

Comments about WP-DC31 Case for Canon PowerShot SD780 IS:
I use this mainly for scuba diving between 20 and 80 ft. This product is high quality and all the buttons have a good feel to them. All camera functions that I know of are accessible. The included flash diffuser is a nice touch as well.
The buttons are small but this is necessary considering how small the Powershot cameras are. I need to take my glove off when using underwater.

Taking your Cannon Powershot digital camera underwater is simply the best. The waterproof case worked like a charm and kept my camera dry and safe while taking some amazing shots of the Maui reefs. The case is very easy to use, a simply application of lubricant to the seal and my camera was safe.
