Grip fits well. Easy to use when shooting lots of quick grab shots. No need to cange batteries in the middle of a assignment. The added weight helps steady the camera.

I never used a grip before,
and I don't know if I'll be able to roll back.
Simply allow you to use your camera as if it was landscape, but in portrait.

Battery lock is very simple to use, may be too much?
But never got any issue with it so far!

I purchased this item to use with my A850. It mounts very easily and fits well in hand. The extra battery capacity is a big help for a long day of shooting. Having the controls duplicated is nice and for the most part in the same place as on the body itself so learning to use them is instinctive. Makes holding the camera in the verticle position more comfortable. As an aside, I had one person comment on what a great camera I had after mounting the grip, that was the first comment I've had since buying it a year ago. Being noticed that way may not always be a good thing!

I initially purchased a vertical grip for my previous camera, an a700. At the time I wasn't sure how much I would use it since the ergonomics of the camera were already great. It has now become a permanent fixture on my camera and when I got my a850, a vertical grip was ordered right along side.

The grip is not only a must-have for shooting vertical orientation shots, it is helpful for horizontal orientation handling as well. I shoot mostly family and kids portraits and some weddings and the extra battery capacity provided with the grip is great - I never have to worry about swapping batteries and can make it through more than a full day of shooting easily.

One thing that is not so great is that I use a Black Rapid strap and occasionally the latch for the battery compartment would catch on my clothes and come undone. I have since placed a small piece of gaffer's tape over the latch when closed and no longer worry about it coming open.

This grip is leaps and bounds beyond any aftermarket grip even though costing much more it is well worth it. Being weather sealed and an all alloy construction make it very reliable. If you shoot portraits, then this is a must have!! Plus double the battery life doesnt hurt either...

Being that I do Portraiture and Sports photography, I use the camera all day and in Vertical and Horizontal positioning. I do not believe the other camera company external battery grips give this much control over the camera electronically. This isn't just a Grip with Batteries; it's an extension of the camera's fundamental controls.

I use this product for portrait use, and overall balance of the camera. It is absolutely superb. I am now running 2 batteries and the need to recharge does not come up near as often. Ir balances the camera out nicely, and gives it the full frame look it deserves. I have no complaints about this piece, and it is a permanent fixture on my 850!

I always purchase a vertical grip with my camera, it is like a necessary addition to aid in comfortability with large lenses. This grip provides all the ncessary buttons and switches to operate the camera in a vertical position. I would recommend this product.

It works great, handy for extended shoots either on vacation, hikes, etc. Since the 900 doesn't have a built-in flash, there's no benifit there. I'm not a pro, but I don't see much use in sittings as you can swap batteries pretty quick. The vertical shoot ability is great, but personally, I almost forget it's there when I switch style. It does add weight and bulk, so it has its place, but it's not an everyday add-on.

Not only does it double your battery life with a second battery, but it really helps to stabilize the camera by adding more mass and it helps to balance the camera out when shooting portrait orientation with a flash hanging on the hotshoe. Sony also did an excellent job at replicating the right hand controls, you can do almost everything on the vertical grip that you can on the camera body.

Be sure to pick up a second battery if you don't already have one.

I had the opportunity to use my new vertical grip today at the Bloomsday race in Spokane Washington. I shot over 7,000 images using the Sony vertical grip. It performed flawlessly used with my Sony Alpha 900. There were no plastic flashings, metal deformities, over tight fitting parts or any other problems. Thank you B&H for carrying these great products.

This verticle grip has helped in a pinch with my school assignments and my own projects. It is easy to install and the control are easy to use. I also like the two batties feature. It so convient not having to change out the battery so often.

Big but light. The grip is perfect on Sony A900.
It gives very good battery time since there is two batteries in it.

This V-grip just gives you more ways to hold on to your camera to get that perfect picture, it will be money spent well. If you have never used one they make everything heavier and bulky, but the trade offs are better hand position for portraits and getting close-up shots. Plus you will have an extra battery for more shooting.

would not count this as a necessity, but it sure is nice to have. does add a little weight to an already heavy camera.

The VG-C90AM Vertical Grip does a lot more than just allow you to use two batteries at once. It extends may of the control functions and buttons of the camera so that you have access to them right from the grip. I'm also very happy with the weight and fit. It allows me to hold the camera comfortably with both hands and have easy access to adjust exposure settings right from the grip itself.
