The Kata CC- 196 GDC HDV Case, Medium (Dark Gray with Blue Trim) is a padded case designed to hold a range of small digital camcorders such as, Canon XL H1, JVC GY-HD series or Sony PMW-EX3 and similar-sized models with matte box attached and accessories. The bag has an RAF (Removable Reinforced Aluminum Frame) for viewfinder and microphone circumferential ultra protection. TST (Thermo-Shield-Technology) protects the equipment from water and dust as well as impact and shock. The interior of the bag is made of a bright yellow loop fabric called Yelloop to which the Modi-Vers dividers can be attached. This case has one long and two short dividers included. There is a reinforced modular bottom panel.
The bag has a large main compartment for a camcorder and a full length internal side compartment for accessories. There is a large external pocket for personal effects or more equipment and a rear slip pocket. It is carried by a padded carrying handle or a removable, adjustable, padded shoulder strap.

- TST (Thermo-Shield-Technology) protects the equipment while creating an extremely light product. The outer surface of the TST is thermo-formed in a protective "ribshape" construction. It is a double cord, water and dust proof, high tenacity and abrasion-resistant fabric. Underneath is a cross-linked, closed cell PE+EVA shield that provides insulation from cold, heat and moisture as well protection from impact and shock.
- The interior of the bag is made of a loop fabric called Yelloop to which the Modi-Vers dividers can be attached. It is a bright yellow material, so that the contents can be viewed with ease.
- The Modi-Vers System creates customized compartments. The divider can be cut with scissors to any desired size. Attach the newly cut divider to another divider or the walls of the bag with a special touch fastener connector. This case has one long and two short dividers included.

I bought 4 of these for Sony EX-3 cameras. They are the perfect fit for the camera and extra accessories. Two of my EX-3s have the Bebob battery attachment on the camera and it still fits. I like the ruggedness and sturdiness of the case, while maintaining a soft interior. I have a peace of mind know that my crews have this case to toss the camera in at the end of the day instead of trying to cram into a smaller case or no case at all.

Works great for the Sony HXR-MC2000U Shoulder Mount AVCHD Video Camera. Plenty of room. You don't have to strip the camera down before putting it in and there's room for extra gear. It would be overkill for some if you don't have extra gear.

I use this for my Canon XLH1 and everything fits very well with room for lots of extra stuff like batteries, charger, cables and more.
My XLH1 camera fits even with the Matte Box attached and I find that quite convenient.
It's easy to arrange and rearrange the compartments to suit your needs.
It's very tough outside yet smooth enough that if you toss it in the back seat of your car you wont tear up your upholstery and very soft inside so I feel my camera is quite safe when packed inside.
It looks great too; Very professional inside and out.
I also bought the smaller version... the Kata CC-192 GDC HDV Case for my Canon XHA1 and I am just as pleased with it also.
The only thing that would make it any better would be to get someone to carry it for you :)
