Autoscript has designed and built the TFT6-P as part of a set of lightweight TFT screens for specific use on Endemol UK's production of Channel 4's Big Brother, Big Brother's Big Mouth and Big Brother's Little Brother to overcome problems associated with more heavyweight versions.

These units, dubbed Miniscript 5.6", are proving so successful during the three month series that they now form a regular part of the Autoscript product line. Previous recent productions of Big Brother had used off-the-shelf units which suffered from occasional power-glitches and dangerous moments of black-out, especially when used with the handheld cameras associated with Big Brother's live Friday eviction nights and Big Brother's Little Brother's live studio presentation. Additionally, prompting can infringe on the camera operators maneuverability because of the added weight on the front of the camera if it is handheld.

Autoscript had two main issues to overcome. The first was unwanted power-downs in off-the-shelf kit which simply isn't fit for the rigors of broadcast. Secondly, they needed lightweight units to aid the camera team. That product didn't exist. Autoscript's policy is never to offer off-the-shelf re-packaged solutions, but bespoke broadcast quality solutions. The Miniscript 5.6 has all the functions of its larger TFT cousins including composite BNC and hirose inputs yet weighs just 480g.

This product includes a power supply and a "Magic Arm" to attach the unit to the handle of the camera

The +WinPlus+ ELP Prompting Software from Autoscript is an entry-level, software solution that comes packaged on a single USB dongle. The application offers features such as run-order management, drop-down menus, Unicode compliance, and multilingual menus.

The program can be controlled via the included USB handheld control or a traditional mouse or touchpad. This unit is designed for use with Windows NT, 2000, and XP. A VGA-to-TV converter may be required if the PC or laptop you are using does not feature a composite-video output.
