The Time Capsule from Apple is an Internet router with a built-in hard drive, designed for use with OS X Leopard's Time Machine backup software. It can backup your Mac over Wi-Fi, ensuring that your data is always protected. It even features a USB port for printer and hard disk sharing.
The router allows you to share your Internet connection between several computers via the draft 802.11n wireless protocol. It also features three standard 10/100/1000Mbps RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The router is fully backwards compatible with legacy 802.11a/b/g devices.
The Time Capsule features a firewall to protect you from malicious software that can attack your computer from the Internet, as well as wireless security to insure that your data remains private. It can serve as an Internet router for both Macs and PCs.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (1TB) (Early 2009):
I have found this Time Capsule to be very easy to use-- there is a simple guided process to get it up and running-- very easy. You can then go back and change some settings manually to get a bit more functionality out of it. Once set up-- forget it- it works on its own. One nice neat function is that you can connect to it via anywhere with the MobileMe 'Back to My Mac' feature. I have found the speed to be nice and quick- I don't know if any faster than my previous router, but speedy enough for me.
I bought this primarily for use with Time Machine. The only problem I had with this product is that by changing the name of another external hard drive to match a name that it previously had would cause time machine to fail. This is an issue with Time Machine, and not this product, though the relation is very close. There is a lot of support online for both Time Machine and for the Time Capsule, that solutions to any problems that you are having can easily be found.
I am using this to back up 2 different macs, and on an all mac network, it is extremely easy. I don't know if this would be the case with Windows.
Overall, very happy and satisfied with my purchase. I feel good about it.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (1TB) (Early 2009):
I bought it to back up a couple of laptops and store my music (mp3) files.
it seems to do the job but it studders when playing the mp3s
also, i cannot seem to plug my printer into the timecapsule and print wirelessly.
maybe it is a set up or internet problem but for techmology challenged people like me it isn't plug and play for those features

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (1TB) (Early 2009):
I have the Time Capsule set up to back-up my imac and probook... The Time Capsule runs perfectly and I am no longer worried about losing any information on either of my computers. With the Time Capsule set up I am also able to access files wireless-ly from one computer to the other. The initial back-up of my computer was painstakingly slow...but once completed, all subsequent back-ups run for only a minute or two.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (1TB) (Early 2009):
This is as easy as it gets for Mac-based backup and it saved me on a serious deadline. I've used other archiving methods; this one is so painless you actually use it and the TB volumes finally make it large enough not to require constant monitoring and cleanout. The wi-fi is also very robust.

Comments about Apple Time Capsule (1TB) (Early 2009):
The time machine worked flawlessly from the beginning, and the dual-n band wireless is really slick. We also use this to mirror a backup repository running in Windows 2003 server.
A little tricky to set up with Verizon FIOS...the verizon router needs to be retained, but you can turn the attenna off.

It is very easy to set up. It does not much space. Once you set it up you do not need to do anything else. It also looks great.
