The Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens utilizes an anti-shake compensation function, with a 13.8 times zoom ratio. This lens's Hybrid Optical Stabilizer provides not only an anti-shake function for the camera body, but also compensates for image shaking in the view finder as the Optical Stabilizer is built in to the lens.
Four special low dispersion glass elements and three aspherical lens elements, results in excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range. With a minimum focusing distance of 17.7" at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 1:3.4 reproduction ratio, this wide-range zoom is great for close-up photography as well as for telephoto shooting.
Note! This lens is only for APS-C / DX sensors (not full frame).

I mostly use the lens as a general zoom lens, for on holiday, outdoors etc.
The one of the best things about the lens is the OS. The Pentax K7 has inbuilt image stabilisation, however i find at telephoto lengths (over 150mm) the lens stabilisaion is better by approx 2 stops and really allows you to hand hold at 250mm.
Only real negative is the lens's width and weight, at 660g it is abit on the weighty side however it is still fairly balanced on the body.
Vignetting is there at 18-35mm unless you stop down but detail and resolution appears to be quite substantial. Photo's seem to have a decent amount of pop between 35mm and 120mm.
Pincushion is well controlled.
HSM focus in this lens is not fast and is roughly equivilent to pentax and their DA* 16-50mm F2.8 Lens wide angle and wide open. The focussing hunts (a little) at the telephoto end indoors dimly lit, due to an aperture of F6.3 and The K7 AF assist light helps substantially. If you own a K10 or K20d the AF will stuggle indoors if it is dimly lit.

Bought this lens after I saw results from my friend's Canon camera in hope to ease myself from changing lenses. However, I find the images coming out quite blurry even when the VR was on. Comparing with my 18-55mm kit lens and 70-300mm Tamron zoom, I'm rather disappointed. The images also tends to be a little dull. Used it to shoot an indoor family gathering with external flash, it struggled to focus and many images came out blurry. At 1.4lbs, it's heavier than my 70-300mm lens, thus, might be hard to hold steady if you are a petite lady like me.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens For Pentax Cameras:
Using a Pentax K10D for 4 years now and got really tired of carrying 2 lenses to cover the 18mm to 200mm range. Frequently didn't have the time to change lenses and still get the shot. Couldn't find a Pentax 18-200mm telephoto so looked at the other makes.
Settled on the Sigma 18-250mm for the extra 50mm of range. Glad I did. That extra "capability" has been very useful so far in just these first 2 months.
I photograph landscapes, village scenes, people, etc., outdoors, mostly. I am getting good, sharp shots at all ranges with clear colors. It compliments the cameras capabilities very nicely.
I find the internal image stabilization much more effective than the camera's. But some of that may be because I also find what I consider the "good" heft to the lens (heavier than I expected) ads to my ability to hold the camera steady. It moved the center of gravity a little forward to where my two handed grip is steadier.
I got some surprisingly good hand held close ups of insects when unexpected opportunities arose.
The slightly slower auto-focus turned out to be a non-problem after the first few shots and I got used to it.
Works well with a fill flash outside. Have not used it in doors with or without a flash yet.
It has turned out to be exactly what I hoped for; I got my money's worth.

At first I thought it was too big but once I attached it to my Pentax Kr all my fears disappeared. Good balance and easy to handle, I am very satisfied with my purchase and have taken so great pictures.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens For Pentax Cameras:
The image is better than expected. Not bad for a superzoom lens. Combined with kr's high iso ability, very useful lens in almost all kinds of circumstance. Even at aperture f6.3, with usable iso3200 , I can still get quality image under average lighting environment.

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens For Pentax Cameras:
Lens is relatively light and easy to use. Lens optical stabilizer system works well and is easy to engage and synch with Pentax body mounted OSM by simply turning the Pentax OSM off. Focuses quickly in relatively low light and pictures are very pleasing across the entire zoom and aperture range. There may be lenses that zoom further, focus sharper or deliver better color saturation, but none does it all like this lens! You put it on and never have to take it off. Great for travel, delivers a zoom reach that rivals the point and shoots with the image quality and flexibility of a DSLR. Love it!

Excellent clarity with good built in features. While the lens could be a little faster, it works in most situations and the price is also excellent. Highly recommended.

My primary lens is a Pentax FA 31Ltd. I won't say that I can't tell a difference in image quality, but the difference is surprisingly little. I gave it 5 stars based on what I would expect from a zoom lens and the image quality is really quite impressive for a super zoom; better than anything else of this type that I've seen. It is a good, solid, well made lens and I couldn't be happier with it.
