Comments about Gitzo GB3360 Series 3 6-Section Aluminum Microphone Boom Pole:
Use this for shooting corporate vids and independent films. Extends to full 12 feet, which is pretty dang long. Not a lot of bend at full length. I use an AT897 mic with a shockmount and often times a fluffy windscreen. My old boom pole had an integrated XLR cable, which was nice. With this one you have to gaff tape and wrap the cable along the length to avoid cord tapping during recording. If you have to shorten or lengthen the pole it can be kind of annoying with all the repositioning. Would definitely recommend to a friend, good value for strength and length. Ring locks are nice, and you don't have to turn them very far for lock or unlock. I have only been using this for several weeks now, but not disappointed.

Comments about Gitzo GB3360 Series 3 6-Section Aluminum Microphone Boom Pole:
I've used this pole on shoots for the past year and a half. Its sturdy, rigid, and the locking collars work effortlessly. I'm giving this 3 stars strictly because of the weight. I worked on a shoot where I had access to the same pole in carbon fiber, and it was half the weight, if not less. A great pole to start with, but I'll be upgrading to carbon fiber asap!

Comments about Gitzo GB3360 Series 3 6-Section Aluminum Microphone Boom Pole:
It's sturdy, but oh so heavy. It weighs in at 2.49 pounds. Compare this to the carbon fiber version from the same brand that's one foot longer and only 1.7 pounds. I hope whoever is going to hold this has some strong arms and shoulders.
The six sections do give you a lot of options in length, while remaining sturdy. I haven't recorded with it yet, but it seems quiet.
Be careful not to unscrew the release mechanisms all the way. They're a bear to thread back on without the whole thing falling apart. A half turn should do you.
The lubricant used in the collars will get all over your hands. Get used to it.
This has a 3/8" male thread, so if your shock mount has a 5/8" thread, don't forget to buy the adapter at the same time.

Comments about Gitzo GB3360 Series 3 6-Section Aluminum Microphone Boom Pole:
I was going to go DIY, then a cheaper brand and finally decided on this model. A very smart move. I feel much more comfortable with my mic and windscreen on this unit. In a short twist/turn each segment is release or secured. And the carry bag was a surprise and a plus.
