I did considerable research prior to selecting this printer, reading many consumer responses, but more importantly, reading a couple very detailed professional reviews/tests. It more than lives up to my expectations, as the prints are simply beautiful - extremely detailed, much more so than on my 1600x1050 monitor. I use PSE7 for editing and it makes no difference whether I use PSE7 or the printer to control the printing process, as the colors match the un-calibrated monitor perfectly! I have printed on Canon glossy II and semi-gloss papers and am simply amazed with the quality of the prints. Ink usage is almost nil after 4 13x19's, 2 8x10's and 4 5x7's. The prints are primarily detailed landscapes, with some sports shots thrown in. I can't think of anything negative to say about it. Set up went very smoothly and I have not had a single issue with this printer. The photograph that I took of my granddaughter with my Canon 50D (raw) in her homecoming dress resulted in a print that would rival anything professionally-produced.

Driver is preset limiting the printer. Does not have control for drying time or amount of ink applied. This is important when there are so few options as far as paper type. This printer is for black and white, photo, shiny poster board and canvas only.
It has no way to adjust the driver for any other papers. from linen to textured. Forget about doing high end cards, posters, letters and all other printing on expensive or heavy papers.
If you set the printer to (other fine art papers the only option available) the driver applies margins that make the format useless. Even if you could put up with buying paper bigger than you need then cutting it down there is no way to adjust the amount of ink applied. So if you have an absorbent type paper there will not be enough ink or a linen to much.
All other printers offer a multitude of paper types in the driver so you can get close to the paper, then make minor adjustments. This printer does not even allow the adjustments.
This could be an easy fix but it appears Canon wants you to limit yourself to their small line of papers. My six year old tired productivity ink jet with over 60,000 pages printed did a better job on my Christmas cards. It isn't even a dedicated photo printer. Pretty sad

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
The Pro 9500 Mark II is my third Canon photo-quality printer. I am pleased with the quality of the prints that it produces, but that is the end of the good news. It takes 25 minutes to print a 13 x 19 inch color print. It also takes a long time to get ready to make the first print, and it goes through a frustrating ritual when you want to replace an ink cartridge. It clanks and clunks and whirs while getting ready to print and then bangs loudly just before it starts to print. The Canon tech rep's reply was that with 10 colors it takes a long time to print. Furthermore, Canon did not have a spec for printing 13 x 19, and I think I know why. Past Canon printers have been very fast compared to this model. Thankfully, the final product is excellent once it is produced.

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
This is my first Canon photo quality printer, and it appears to be very good for the price. I have no problem producing professional grade photographs with it. I do agree with the other reviewer's though, it is very noisy when picking up the paper from the tray. I was not prepared for it, the first time I used the printer, and it actually startled me. I thought something had broke. There is one other thing I wanted to mention. I purchased the 9500 over the 9000 because I was told the 9500 was much better on B&W pictures. I can't say for sure, one way or the other, but I do find it odd that on an 8x10 color pictures, the 9000 takes less than a minute to print, whereas my 9500 takes 4-5 minutes. You would think that the better printer would perform just as fast, or faster, than the 9000. Honestly, for the amount of B&W's I print, I probably should have bought the 9000 and saved the $150, but I'll just have to see how the printer stands up over the long haul. So at this point, I'll start by giving this printer a 4, and see how it holds up.

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
I have been using Epson printers for the last 10 years with first the 680 and now the Artisan 810 and 830. All of these printers have been great and I still use the Artisan's for everday use. However, I have always been a little disappointed in what I saw on the screen not matching the color printed even though I use a calibration device for my monitor. So, I needed to upgrade to a more professional printer and looked long and hard at the Epson options. Three primary things made me choose the Pixma 9500. First, the reviews were great. Second, the ink cartriges seemed to be less expensive than the Epson higher end printers and third, the $300 Rebate. I have not been sorry. The Canon Pixma printer gave great pictures right out of the box. Like others though, I experienced a little more red in the portraits than I am used to. Not to worry, once I downloaded the upgraded software for the Canon Easy Photo PrintPro, and made sure my screen was calibrated, I, for the first time ever was able to print exactly what I saw on the screen. I cannot tell you what a joy that is. Thanks Canon, and thanks for the rebate. Of course, I will probably use it on printer cartriges. Should be enough for a year or two. Also, after 25 8x10 color photos, the only ink cartridge showing use is the grey. Go figure! I also like the fact that the paper feed is in the back, no more paper jams for glossy print paper like I experienced with the Epson front feeders. One bonus I did not expect. I got great prints using my stock of Epson glossy print paper so I do not have to discard my inventory.

This printer makes that special photo as good as it can be. It's not fast, but it does produce high quality prints. It is easy to use and can handle thicker materials through a front slot as well as normal print paper through a rear feed slot. Make sure you give it plenty of room front and back.

Using this printer with Moab papers to print from Photoshop with Moab *.icc file color correction. Far better results than from my retired E[pson R1800. Bought this on Will Crockett's recommendation and he was "spot on". Great value for the price.
Great about it: Paper feed doesn't "hang-up", even with heavier papers. Best match to monitor image I have had yet.
Not good about it: Nothing bad about it in three weeks of use.

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
I print many photos used as final art. The inks are stable and the prints are sharp. I do mostly commercial work and portraits and sometimes poster design. The printer is generally accurate in reproducing colors and text looks good too. There are times that the printer saturates certain colors too much and I have to readjust the saturation (mostly reds).

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
I've used this printer for few months, and it does a fantastic job. I compared it to similar Epson printers, and with rebate it was no contest.
Installation is simple, but setting paper-specific printing parameters takes some getting used to. Reading the well-written instruction manual is necessary, but to be expected for this quality of printer.
I've used it with a variety of high end papers, up to 13x19 border-less, and the print quality is excellent.
It is slow to print, but worth the time. Ink consumption is average, with the exception of photo gray, which it devours 2 to 3 times faster than the other 9 inks.

My wife and I ordered this printer to avoid the hassle of printing from [@] or other vendors. The printer works exceptionally well -- and it's very easy to setup and get going. We are very impressed with the speed and color quality of the printer. While it's expensive - so far we have no regrets. Wish we would have bought it earlier. We look forward to doing our christmas photos / birthday photos / and other family business right at home -- the way we want it done vs. dealing with retailers.

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
I just recently purchased this printer and found it to be quality right out of the box. Setup was straight forward but involved. It prints beautiful prints with very little effort by going off of most of the standard ICC profiles and a calibrated monitor. The only issue I have found is that it seems to have a little trouble with certain matte papers. I have used the canon photo matte paper and it comes the closest to screen to print match. Certain colors are still a little off and the blacks are not super deep(which is a characteristic of matte anyway). I had more problems with the Moab lasal paper's ICC profile. The reds where way off, oversaturating skin tones far beyond ok levels. I imagine this could be fixed by creating a custom ICC profile but have not tried this yet. It shines though with gloss, semi-gloss, velvets, photo rags and most other papers so if you are doing most fine art or portraiture work, you should be just fine. I have not done alot of black and white printing which is an area it really rocks in but would like to try some. Excellent printer with pro quality and features. Read the manual during setup and when doing the front tray feed for the first time. Great product canon!

Printer works awesome once the setup is complete. Warm up and time between prints is longer than I expected but not bad when you consider the quality of prints you get from it. The size of the media it handles truely make this printer worth the price. That being said, I haven't printed enough yet to need a replacement cartridge so we'll reevaluate when that happens.

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
About 20 months ago, I bought the Pixma Pro9500 Mark II because there was a great rebate through B&H Photo. I have used the machine lightly but regularly as an amateur photographer. Then it ceased to work and indicated Error B200. The repair shop found it needed a new print head ($290) plus $120 for instillation. It did a good job with B&W prints while it worked, but I won't buy another Canon printer until reliability or the warranty improves.

Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Inkjet Printer:
I bought this printer because I wanted to be able to use various papers, like semi-gloss, and a variety of matte papers that are not usually available in photo labs (or they cost way too much). So far I am extremely impressed. This printer brings out details in my prints that I have never seen before. Coupled with some sample paper packs, I am working through finding my favorite papers. When I bought it, the rebate made it a deal unable to resist. 13"x19" prints are huge and look beautiful.
A couple things to note: the only available connection method is usb 2.0. Also, there is no roll printing, and if the printer is set to art paper, it forces a border on 13" x19" prints, but this can be overcome by switching to matte paper type.
