A little early for a review... haven't even hooked up the rears yet or done a calibration. I wanted an inexpensive, small, decent quality sound system. So far, this fits the bill. I really like that the receiver is small, light, and cool (doesn't run hot and heat up the room). I'm not a fan of the proprietary speaker connectors and very thin speaker cable, but I understand why it was done (connectors are smaller than standard speaker connectors, thus keeping the size of the receiver down - thin speaker wire makes it less obtrusive for the casual user whose going to want to tuck the cable under the carpet or molding).I wish the subwoofer wasn't passive, but I knew that going in. For the price point it is good enough. My only real annoyance is that you can't just set it up to use 2CH stereo without the sub. I doubt anyone else would want to do this, but I needed to demo some big floorstanding speakers and I didn't want to use the sub. Couldn't get the receiver to not process out the low frequencies to the sub channel. Oh well - minor gripe. It's not supposed to be used that way, so I can't really complain.Overall, it sounds pretty good and is far and away the best cheap system out there.Price was great - came in a combo deal with a 32" Sony 1080p LCD TV.No problems with the order. Got this in a package deal, and it works okay.
It integrates well with my new Sony TV.
If you're picky, you won't like it. Setup is
straightforward; understanding what the various
options do has taken me days of research, and I
still don't know on some of them. The manual
is not helpful.
With the default settings, the subwoofer is far
too loud, even at low volumes. I've had to
adjust it down almost as far as possible to get
somewhat normal sound. It also resonates strongly
at a certain frequency, so that it's far too loud
at that frequency even when it's otherwise fine.
Note this system does not support the latest
movie audio encodings. But unless you're an
audiophile, you probably won't know the
difference - it'll default to an older system.
The AM tuner is useless; I couldn't get anything.
Don't expect big quality sound from this. A
loud movie ("Prince Caspian") overdrove the system
several times, producing crackling.
Overall it's an okay entry-level home theatre
system.

Comments about Sony HT-SS360 Home Theater System:
Nice HTIB that I set up in my office.Sub is too loud, center is a little small.Adjusted the sub, and replaced the center speaker with a spare. The new center speaker makes the dialogs much more clear. I am a little hard of hearing, but with the original center, I had a hard time understanding dialog during the movie "Hel*". Maybe others will not have a problem with the center. Most other reviewers did not complain. For [$] it was a great deal.

Comments about Sony HT-SS360 Home Theater System:
I'm in a small studio apt (10' x 11') and this FILLS the place with clear, balanced sound.
Connected to my Bravia 32" TV and a Sony DVD player (recent) and my PS3 (for gaming and BlueRay). All connect via HDMI. Time Warner's monolithic cable box thankfully has an HDMI out so that made the decision to buy this system simple simple simple!
Only negative would have to be the remote ... feels a little too 'cheap' for the job its doing. A little more weight to balance it would be nice. (a MINOR thing)
Also a quick nod to the NY Superstore staff ... very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. Thanks!

This product was a very inexpensive promotional item offered with a tv I wanted, so I took a chance. It turns out I will not use it because it is too complex for the room where the tv is. I may use it in the future in a different setting. I cannot comment on the product's performance qualities.

Yes, this isn't the best home theater system out there but for less than 300$ you'll cover all your basic home theather needs and more.
The sound quality is very good, living up to Sony's high standards and the reciever design is sleek and shiny making the appearance very attractive.
The only downside is the speaker's design which is a bit old in my opinion.

Comments about Sony HT-SS360 Home Theater System:
The best feature is the interface. With a Bravia TV and this Bravia ready Sony sound system it eliminates the requirement of additional remotes.
I (read here my wife) can still use the remote off the satellite DVR as has been done for years and everything fires on/off and controls the amp volume so no new training/instruction was necessary. More importantly no "what do you mean I have to turn this on with this...why can't I just use this one like normal? Well that's stupid." Nope, none of that, just a simple "It works the same dear..."
So, in a word "woohoo!" Happy wife...happy life.
