I've been wanting a Wacom table for a long, long time, but never could justify the expense. I'm a web designer and graphic artist, and now I realize that can't justify the expense of NOT getting one of these.
I can tell that it's speeding up my production time enough that I know it'll pay for itself in the months to come.
I read several people's comments about taking time to get used to using the tablet, but I must say that I didn't find that necessary. It took maybe 15-30 minutes of fooling around with it for it to just feel natural.
I'm working on getting used to the ExpressKeys, as I'm more comfortable with the keyboard, but feel that it won't be long.
This thing is really sensitive! In fact, almost TOO sensitive, though you get used to it quickly, and it gives you an amazing amount of control.
Very slick-looking as well; it ended up being a lot thinner than I expected, which is a good thing.
I'm glad I got the large size, as I have a 21" widescreen monitor, and the monitor and tablet seem to match just about perfectly.
I didn't have any issues with driver or software installation and use; everything just worked perfectly, so I'm very pleased.
If you're a digital artist or designer, I really recommend getting one of these tablets.

the product should be more useful to more professional people than myself, but professionals should encounter my problems as well.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Digital Tablet (Large):
I'm sort of new to the tablet, but I'll learn.
The Intuos4 seems to be much more precise than
my mouse. I'm going to like that. I'm use to
pumping my mouse to move it across the screen and
that's not the way of the pen - whoops. That's
a very small hurdle and no problem. I'm just a
creature of habbit. Looks like it's nothing
but good all the way around

Easy to set-up. Customizing express keys is easy. Using the pen was easier to learn than expected. Pen gives you control over opacity and brush width. Selections are easier with a pen. 90% of users would be satisfied with the medium size.

I am a graphics artist and love my new Intuos Tablet. It is actually larger than I thought but with my two monitors, I like the large working area. If you are ordering a large one, make sure you have enough room on your desktop as this is 18" x 13".

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Digital Tablet (Large):
I am an independent professional photographer working with fine arts images from both 4x5 color film and a Canon 5D-II.
I gave up the mouse many years ago when my right hand froze from over-use on graphic applications. Overnight I had to switch to my left hand and to a trackball, both unnatural to me at first. However, I got immediate relief from right wrist seizure!
However as my Photoshop usage has increased I've found any trackball very clumsy for photo editing, even the minimal corrections I do. The movements are just not precise enough to select detailed paths. (I can no longer imagine how painful and awkward a mouse would feel for such tasks.)
Having watched the graphic pros for 25 years using tablets, I succumbed to greater wisdom and bought a Wacom Intuos tablet. I have large hands, dual 24" screens at high resolution, and adequate desk space so I bought the large size.
Installation was a non-event; plug and play. Using it is instinctive, although I have had to re-learn my primary school eye-hand coordination.
Now here's an unexpected bonus: I still use my track ball with my left hand for all routine desk work and Photoshop commands. But I pick up the Wacom pen the moment I touch an image. They work together with no conflict and I am two-handed productive!
I have no complaints to share about my tablet. While the large Wacom takes up a lot of desk space, I don't resent that for a moment given the freedom of hand and arm movement it affords over my edit space. If you spend more than a few hours a week editing photos I highly recommend the Wacom as an investment with a very short payback.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Digital Tablet (Large):
I am a professional photographer who spends way too much time in Lightroom and Photoshop. I always resisted buying one of these tablets because they are very expensive, but I started developing pains in my hands and neck from from over-work and mousing too much. By the end of the first day my pain as 50% gone. By the end of the week I felt fine and was working faster than when I did mousing.
As we all know time = money, so I figure by the end of the year my Intuos4 will have paid for itself in time savings and insurance deductibles NOT paid for doctors visits.
It feels a little bit flimsy for the price, but still gets 5 stars.

I was recommended to use this not only for editing pictures, but also for daily use of the computer.
It was absolutely right! I needed some time to get used to this, but after a week, 2 weeks, as you use this more, you can't live without this!
Essential to edit pictures.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Digital Tablet (Large):
I have had every generation of Intuos Tablets and this one is the best. I only have one concern... the dull surface texture of the surrounding plastic on my Intuos 2 wore down with time to a shiny worn area where used - making it hard to resell when time to upgrade (and looking bad in the meantime). The Intuos 3 changed to a hard shiny Lexan surround bezel, which after a couple years still looks new - great improvement. The Intuos 4 combines the two plastics, but the main wear areas on the bezel are back to the dull textured plastic which I am guessing will wear out just like the Intous 2? I am going to try covering that area with some 3M Clearguard, but I really wish they had stayed with the shiny Lexan for the entire bezel.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Digital Tablet (Large):
I use this tablet for everything, (but mainly photo editing). I have all but thrown my mouse away. It has so many controls available once you learn it, there is no need for a mouse, everything can be done from the pen. There are a plethora of videos on line to learn ways to make it suit you and to learn the ways of using it but mainly practice practice practice.
I can't believe I have worked with a mouse for so long before finally getting one of these. You will wonder why you did't get one sooner.
The only thing I would change is instead of buying the large I probably would have gotten the medium, it takes up a lot of space on the desk and it is a lot of arm movement if you use it to its fullest. Also it collects dust like crazy so it is good to keep it covered when its not being used.
