If you are looking for a DVD that record off the air digital or analog with good quality well the Toshiba 670 is the one.I've had this unit for 2 weeks and have ran it threw the ringer and it has met and exceeded all my expectations.I have read reviews on other sights about how hard the unit is to set up and use this is not so,you either got to be dumb or just plain crazy if you can't operate this machine. As far as the VHS dubbing the 670 record what it see if your tape is poor quality then you get poor quality what do you expect.DVD recorded from TV play is the same or better as seen on TV.So i give this 670 a 5*****.When i get some more money i will buy another one from B&H.

I had no problems ordering this DVD/VCR Recorder Combo and the price was low, compared to other stores. It arrived quickly and well-packaged. Fortunately, they also took it back within 15 days with no hassle because the machine was a major disappointment.
It was complex to set up and use compared to similar units I've owned in the past. The design and layout of the remote is terrible (the program set and timer set buttons are small, look just like channel number buttons, and are at opposite ends of the remote from each other); the writing on the remote is tiny white lettering on a black background- very difficult to see unless you turn on a bright light. If you want to tape two shows on different channels back-to back, the beginning of the second show is omitted (this never happened with my other machines). And, no matter how hard I tried to set the clock (auto or manual PLUS I made sure DST was off & correct time zone was selected) it keep going back an hour by the next day. In an effort to compensate for that, I set the clock ahead by one hour; the next day, it had gone back TWO hours. I gave up after that.
Playing or stopping tapes produced very loud clunking noises from the unit. The quality of tapes played or recorded on VHS was okay. I don't know about the DVD quality because I returned it before I could even try that feature out. Good riddance!

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
The instructions seemed to be written wrong at one point - but using it another day it works. I thought I dubbed 3 DVDs from VCRs but nothing happened although the unit shows it is recording. I have spent 3 days of my life to record only two DVD's properly. Sometimes it works; other times it does not. Cannot take it back because I waited too long. So, I paid [$] to watch DVDs. Would never recommend to anyone, even an enemy.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
I use it with rooftop antenna and a digital converter box to an old analog TV. Have it doing everything I wanted, timed VHS recording while watching another channel, dubbing VHS to DVD and DVD and VHS playback. The instruction manual needs better organization. You have to read it very carefully and go through it several times. I have only had it a week so reliability is still a question mark.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
We have had several weeks to use this unit and are very pleased. Simple to hook up - one of the best instruction manuals I have seen. Works exactly as it is supposed to with excellent quality recording and playback. My wife refers to herself as technically challenged and she has grasped the functions well in a short time. The delivery was also a day faster than promised - IMPRESSIVE. Thanks so very much. I would gladly recommend this unit, and encourage friends to purchase from you!

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
I replaced another DVD/VCR recorder. It was easy to set up and use. Was able to record the Giants victory in Super Bowl XLVI. I can't wait to use it to transfer my video tapes to DVD.
It goes great with my new 46" Sony LED TV. It has multiple jacks for inputs and outputs for the various formats.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
I got this mostly to dub old VHS tapes to DVD.
At first I thought the manuel was intimidating but actually the instructions were clear and not that hard to follow.
After making 2 DVDs Im happy with the product
Finalizing dvds is a little awkward and there is a longish pause for uploading.

Aside from normal use as a DVD playback machine, my secondary chief use is for VHS to DVD dubbing.

The product is very slow in reacting. It takes much too long from the time you enter the disc to the time a picture actually appears on the screen.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
I bought this so that I could dub VHS tapes onto DVD as advertised and so far, it had been working very well. the quality of the DVD is very good and I have only had one tape that did not transfer well as it is very old and I did not expect a great result. I have had it for about three weeks and I can do about 5 dubbings a day. So far, so good!

the product does way more than I thought it would. that is good, but understanding it is a bit more challenging. I'd give the product 5 stars, but the instructions 3.5 stars.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
I bought this mainly to transfer video from a camcorder to DVDs, but also VHS tapes to DVDs. I haven't had a chance to do much of this yet, but it seems to work fine. The only problem so far is that the instruction manual is a little hard to follow.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
Playback of both tapes and discs is good. The manual is lacking. It implies that you can record from one format to the other using only the unit itself. That seems logical but since you have to select which format you have "active", the source side powers off when the record side is selected. There must be a way around this but I haven't found it yet.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
This unit seemed to fit the bill for my needs following the demise of my previous DVD/VCR. Initially there was difficulty in getting through the start up directions, but, finally, I was able to set time and program the VCR. DVD played well.
Now I can't get the unit off DVD to get VCR to operate. When trying to switch to the VCR the unit doesn't do it. I have a VCR cassette in the machine, but can not get the unit to eject. There is a bit of frustration in trying to figure this out, and I'm an A/V technician. Likely I will have to contact Toshiba to get this straightened out. For playing DVDs, right now, this unit is doing very well, but for VCR ....

I had an earlier model which was stolen in a home burglary. I replaced it with a newer version because I was so happy with the one I had, and I am just as happy with this newer and even more efficient model. Product support from Toshiba is also excellent.

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
The connection diagram does not explain how to connect Hi-definition cable box to the DVD-RW. The main reason fro buying the unit was to record programs that I was unavailable to watch. I think it can be done but I have yet to succeed. Not enough cables to make the require connections

Comments about Toshiba DVR670 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo:
You can use this recorder without reading the instructions. Pop in a VHS take, pop in a DVD, press "dub" and it's done. You can watch your tape while it records to the DVD. This is why I bought the device and I haven't used it to record from the TV, but if it is as easy as dubbing a VHS tape, there will be no problem.
