Pros: Excellent playback of standard DVD due to uprossessing. This unit provides much higher quality and definition than my previous Panasonic - the DMR-E80H Video Recorder. Before this unit, I had been using the DMR-E80H that was limited to SD. It had a hard drive built in and a DVD burner. I primarily use it now to record off air and to convert analog tape to DVD. Its playback is fair, but when played through the new DMP=60K Blue Ray Player, the video looks much more clear and has better definition.
I purchased this unit to prepare for Blue Ray video productions as I also purchased a Canon HF-100 camcorder. DVDs I produce with my Canon HF100 look excellent when played back on this Blue Ray Disk Player. Until now, I have mostly recorded in FXP rather than HD as I am mostly generating DVDs for our church ministry. When more people acquire Blue Ray Players, I want to be ready.
I also appreciate the ability to take the SD chip out of my camera and put ito the slot of the Blue Ray Player. It looks great! We pass it through the HDMI port of our 42" Sony.
Down side is Blue Ray discs are still a little on the pricy side. I believe these discs will come down in price in the near future.

I have to give it three stars based solely on the fact that it is very slow. It takes about 1.5 to 2 minutes to get into the main menu of the DVD. I found that this varies. District 9 takes about two minutes. Sunshine took about 30 seconds. Other than waiting a little bit (go pop some corn or take a dump before the movie) it is a perfect Blu Ray Player for the price. DVD's start up fast and look great. It is also one of the slimest players around. Remember, the star rating is 3 stars only because of speed. But for [$], i'm willing to wait it out.

Comments about Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-ray Disc Player:
The 2 things I hate about it - I REALLY hate: 1) painfully slow in loading; and 2) does not automatically power off - so if I fall asleep with the thing still playing, it will still be on in the morning when I get up. I thought we were supposed to be getting more energy efficient.

This blu-ray player produces an amazing picture when paired with a blu-ray disc. DVD's don't look as great as I expected, but blu-ray movies look awesome!Viera Cast works well and when you purchase an HD movie through it, the quality is just as good as a blu-ray disc. The only downfall is that you have to use [...] on Demand instead of Netflix, which is a more expensive if you are going to buy a lot of on-demand videos. Overall, this player is the best value for the money and pairs perfectly with our Panasonic plasma tv.

No problems at all. A very easy installation. One warning. Once you see it in Blue Ray, it is very hard to whatch anything else. The best price was with B&H. [...] I can't find anything to complain about.

My family's been buying blu ray since I bought it and we've enjoyed it so far. I don't really have any other comments aside from the fact that we've been entertained so far watching our blu ray in this player...

Comments about Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-ray Disc Player:
I own both the -BD80 and this 60 models and don't notice any difference in picture and sound quality. This is the best value player as of today (Dec 30). The only real reason you have to buy the upgraded model (-BD80) is that you have an older receiver that cannot decode the latest DD+, DTS HD, etc. and you need the 7.1 analog outputs. The remote control is the best designed one after comparing and using those from SONY, Samsung, and Vizio.
