International orders*The Nikon Forestry 550 Rangefinder is a sophisticated measuring device for many varied applications. Starting with a waterproof 6x21 6.0° monocular design with 18mm of eye relief, Nikon's incorporated an inclinometer and hypsometer in addition to the standard laser rangefinder mechanism. Thus the Forestry 550 can sense its angle relative to level, and can use this information along with the rangefinder to tell you the height of an object or the vertical distance between two points. As light conditions lower and contrast improves, so too does any rangefinder's accuracy, and the Forestry 550 can be an awfully impressive measurement tool for a diverse range of applications. Hunters, tourists, and golfers will find it works great.

I bought the unit mostly for the ability to do 2-point height measurements, as well as distance measurements. I have checked the instrument now with several known objects, and I am very happy about the precison and ease of use. The Forestry 550 fits easily into jacket pockets, and the two-button operation is easy enough. Two reasons this is not a five star rating: The two "manuals" are abysmal - they are those foldout mega-size pages printed in what seems 2 point font size, using awkward English (bad translation). Also, only one of them can be found on Nikon's web page as a pdf (which is how I store and access all my manuals). Other than that, I like the instrument.

I don't recomend to use in golf.
Because,if distance from pin flag beyond about 130ft,this 550 rangefinder can't measure it from either pole or flag.In these case it shows distance from background.

In the electric utility this is a must have. Saves our staking Engineers valuable time. The functions of this rangefinder are great, and not difficult to use. Only flaw is the size of the eyepiece. Could be a little bigger for better comfort.

Working for a utility company, knowing ground to pole, ground to ties, distances, etc. is extremely helpful. This little guy comes with easy instructions and a convenient bag/case. It now goes everywhere in the utility truck for on-site visits.
