You just can't go wrong with these. They are a bit heavy, but so versatile and stable. You will truly wish you had more of these if you get one, and will wonder how you got by on the non-pro gear for so long. I especially love the way the grip heads are smoothly adjusted to any angle, and they truly hold. Forget the plastic immitators - if you need the job done, get one (or more) of these.

I've been meaning to purchase C-Stands for a couple years now (used them in college) and having received them, I wish I hadn't put it off for so long. These are awesome for light stands and heavy enough to hold a reasonably weighted light and softbox out on the boom arm, even without a sandbag. I also hear these are great to hold 4-foot seamless backdrops, which I will be trying out soon. I know these will last me a long time, if not a lifetime. <3
The legs on mine are very tight and difficult to swing out, probably something I could loosen up. But I expect this will fade with time and use.

I use this for both studio and certain location sessions. This stand makes moving and changing light so easy, that I have been kicking myself for not making the jump sooner. Previously I have had lightweight stands from Impact and those are great for portability, but I would much rather have strength, durability and ease of use and modification of light over the portability and weight saving any day. Especially if you have an assistant or grip to help you wrangle and move the stand when you're working with people, you can't go wrong with the C-Stand!

Comments about Avenger A2033LKIT Century Stand Grip Head, Arm Kit - 10.75' (3.25m):
Over the years I have had extensive experience with American, Matthews, Norms, and Avenger. Though I know people can get religious on what brand they prefer (I normally prefer American due to the great handles and torque you can put on things) I am beyond happy with the current design of these Avengers and the price is worth it for the quality you're getting. They are solidly built, have a thick chrome plating, and will help you fly any flag or rig things with ease. I especially like the new rubber grips built into the grip handles--nice touch! For location work, the sliding leg version is more versatile for uneven surfaces (stairs, etc.)than the standard studio version and this is why you pay a bit of a premium. I may suggest picking up a turtle base + pin adapter as well--this will give you the ability to rig things low to the ground.

I have not had these stands very long but from my experience in the freelance world these stands are better than anything I used while freelancing.

Comments about Avenger A2033LKIT Century Stand Grip Head, Arm Kit - 10.75' (3.25m):
I have a couple regular stands, but the versatility of the c-stand is outstanding. I can place a light monolight or a speedlight on the end of the extension and can get the light low to the ground or up above the subject-really almost anywhere I want and the sliding leg allows for it to be placed on uneven surfaces. While it is sturdy, it is also heavy and long making it harder to fit inside trunk space forcing me to put the back seat down, but well worth it for a location shoot.

Bought this c-stand based upon recommendations from friends and they were right. Perfect for studio and outdoor location work. I have used it with AB800's with umbrella's and a beauty dish. Stable and excellent quality.

We have Matthews Combo stands, which are very useful, but the foot-print is large. The C-Stand does the same basic job, but with a smaller footprint.
Use for lighting boom stand, mic boom stand; and with grip arm and grip head for holding French Flags etc.
