Manfrotto 701HDV,055XBK Mini Pro Aluminum Tripod System (Black)
The Manfrotto 701HDV,055XBK is an aluminum tripod system for camcorders up to 8.8 lbs. This system consists of the 701HDV Pro Fluid Mini Head and the 055XB aluminum tripod with soft case.
This system offers a stable platform for lightweight camera packages.
- Fluid Head
- Small and lightweight, the Bogen 701HDV Pro Fluid Video Mini Head is capable of accommodating payloads up to 9.5 lbs, and was designed principally to support the latest digital video equipment, including Mini DV and prosumer/professional grade HDV camcorders.
- Tripod Legs
- The Bogen/Manfrotto 055XB Tripod Legs builds on the success of the 3011/3021 series, but has been redesigned to offer even better ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism, and improved quick action leg locks. While it can reach a maximum working height of 70" (178cm), it can also be used as low as 2.8" (7cm) by using the low angle adapter built in to the center column.

I returned this tripod because the only way to level it was to adjust the legs. I shoot both stills and video. I'm going to look at another tripod with legs that have a ball leveler for quick leveling. The 701HDV head seemed to work well on this tripod.

Responsive, easy to use, plastic feels durable to last for a about five years. At this price point you really feel your getting a good product. The bag is comfortable and houses the tripod well. This is not a rough riding tripod, but it is very good for Videographers looking to get those smooth pans without compromising an arm and a leg. A professional tool, but most certainly entry level, and designed for the consumer venturing into more serious video.

The 701HDV is a joy to use w/my Canon HV40. Smooth panning and quick release. The only con I have is the HV40's battery can't be accessed without removing it from the plate. The 547BK tripod has been widely recommended for the HV40. I went with the 055XBK because it could be setup both taller and shorter than the 547BK. An important feature for me. Very affordable. All in all I love this system!

While I've had this combination for just a few weeks, I'm in love. A really nice tripod system for sure.
We purchased this to use for shooting video mainly. It is easy to setup, easy to take down, and easy to control. Absolutely love this tripod. Very well made. The only thing I'd change is perhaps adding a pocket to the case for extras that you might want to store with the tripod.
Overall, we love it.

I have just purchased this tripod to use with my Panasonic AG-HMC150 camcorder. It is easy to use and provides nice stability for the camera's weight. As a professional cameraman previously using a Sony pro camera, I like the idea of the quick release tripod plate. The plate attaches to the base of my camera, where it will stay for future ease of use. The release levers on the tripod's legs are easy to use. The middle extender pole is also quick to raise if you need height in a hurry. A very nice tripod.

I purchased this to work with my Cannon XL H1a - and was particularly looking for a tripod that would NOT break the bank, and would work well with the size and weight of this camera. This tripod did that and more. It is easy to set up, holds the camera snugly and panning was smooth. I'd suggest connecting the adaptor (canon provides) to the shoe mount prior to a shoot – as it took me a few minutes to figure out how the cannon tripod adaptor worked with the tripods mount – but that was solved that evening when I didn't have talent staring me down while waiting for the shoot to begin. All in all –a great tripod!
