The Aurora 8/FW from Lynx Studio Technology is an eight channel, mastering-quality AD/DA converter in a single-space rack-mount housing. This model includes a factory installed LT-FW FireWire interface card, which enables you to use the Aurora 8 as a mobile FireWire recording interface with a Mac or Windows computer. The sound quality that Lynx converters provide used to be confined to only high-end audio facilities, but with the Aurora 8/FW, this caliber of sound is now within reach for laptop-based producers and musicians.
The importance of high-quality A/D D/A converters tends to be somewhat mysterious to anyone unfamiliar with working with them. Understanding what they do and the positive impact they have on your sound is really simple. Almost everything you do in computer-based recording requires digital information to be converted into analog audio, and for analog signals to be converted into digital information. Everything you record and playback from the computer through your studio monitors and headphones is strongly influenced by the quality of your converters. The front panel of the Aurora 8/FW is ergonomically designed to provide easy access to important controls and signal status. It features an on-board 16-channel digital mixer that provides extensive routing and mixing options. This system is capable of zero latency monitoring, and Lynx's proprietary SynchroLock jitter technology provides extreme jitter reduction and an extremely clean clock output. All analog and digital connections use DB25 connectors with industry standard pin-outs.
