The Universal Transfer Switch 6-Circuit 120V from APC is an automatic transfer switch, designed for use in optional standby systems. The switch provides power for up to 6 circuits in a home or office. Power can be derived from either 1 or 2 independent backup sources. These sources can include generators, UPS systems, solar inverters, or other alternative energy sources.
When connected to electrical equipment, the backup power source can provide power during outages. When used in conjunction with a UPS, it protects equipment from brownouts, sags, surges, and outages.

Comments about APC Universal Transfer Switch 6-Circuit 120V:
Unit arrived quickly and was exactly as expected. I found installation manuals a little confusing as it was the same manual for a number of different versions in the APC product line. The UTS6H is different than the other models in that it is only 120V and does not handle any 240V circuits.
I like the APC Transfer switch in that it will work with both a UPS and a generator. I wish it went one step further and allowed an inverter, a generator and a UPS, but this is better than anything else I have found.
I wish the armored cable bundle was more flexible. It was too stiff to curve into my electrical panel and I had to shorten it. This was made more difficult because there were so many cables in the bundle.
The unit includes 6 fuses that can be either 15 amp or 20 amp. It comes populated with 15 amp fuses, and 3 spare 20 amp fuses.
I also wish there was the ability to prioritize which circuits would be dropped to shed load. You can set up several circuits to shed, as well as time limits, but no priorities.
Finally, I wish a 10 circuit, 120V version were available. Since all circuits are permanently wired through the transfer switch, I'd prefer the ability to have more circuts for standand use.
