The WS-400S Digital Voice Recorder from Olympus is more than just a way to record meetings and personal notes; it's also a USB storage device for transferring documents to your computer. The recorder features a built-in USB drive for direct connection with your computer, freeing you up from having to find a cable every time you need to transfer files. The 1GB of internal flash memory can store up to 272 hours of audio, while the 5 organizing folders allow for storage of up to 200 files each.
The WS-400S features a built-in stereo microphone that captures quality audio in stereo or mono. However, the microphone jack, allows for enhanced audio recording via an external mic. Other important features include voice activation, 21 hours of battery life, and a multi-language LCD.

Bought this as a backup for interviews and as a groom mic. Super easy to use, I really like that it has a HOLD feature so that even if buttons are pressed while your recording it doesn't affect it. Very lightweight and straight forward.
The only real con is that the WMA files are only readable on PC. I'm sure there is a workaround that I haven't figured out but it was annoying to load it onto my Mac and not be able to work with the files. However on my PC it was fine.

This recorder appealed to me because of its size and eas of use. Olympus makes a good quality recorder. This recorder is great for recording a naration to add to your video or picture slideshow.
The sound is clear, its very light weight and small.
The only thing that I didn't like was that it did not come with a strap although there is a place for one on the bottom of the recorder.

In our office, conversations often have to be recorded and transcribed. Great quality so far and very easy to use without cords! Connecting directly to a laptop without having to search for the cord was a real plus to my boss.
