Comments about APC Back-UPS XS 900VA 120V (Black):
Works well as a UPS unit, however... the common complaint you read online with this model is the fan noise. I found this to be true with my unit as well. The fan runs continously and produces a high pitched sound that is just too objectionable for home use. I ended up taking it to work and buying replacement batteries for my 10 year old old unit and putting it back into service for home use.
It works well, it does what its suppose to do, and B&H is as good as it gets.... but for me, this unit was not a good selection for home use.

Comments about APC Back-UPS XS 900VA 120V (Black):
it's much more reliable than other similar devices from another company I had before. Batteries usually last at least two years. I did have one problem recently when one of the many units I bought for my department stopped working. First I thought it's a battery since unit displayed "replace battery" light but after checking this battery on another unit and good working battery in the failed unit I found that the housing itself was faulty. Now I'm in the talks with APC customer service to fix the problem. Little slow to get right to the business asking me too many times the same questions although I did provide them with a model and serial number of the unit, along with purchase receipt by BHPhoto, so they should know exactly what it is and not ask me to confirm if it's APC device or not?!

Nice product for home office. Compact yet powerful.
Wished it had a standard 4 pin phone jack for phone connection.

Comments about APC Back-UPS XS 900VA 120V (Black):
We live in a rural area in Maine and winter power outages are a fact of life. APS Back-UPS are an important part of our overall data protection strategy and at under $100, really cheap insurance against data loss. These units are easy to use, reliable and protect our hardware investments as well by conditioning the power going to our workstations. We love them and will keep coming back to B&H for them for the great prices [...].

Comments about APC Back-UPS XS 900VA 120V (Black):
Purchased for a linux NAS (Network Attached Storage) used for storing client images, and projects. Connected to the NAS is an xternal back-up. I have also attached my router and cable modem to the UPS. When tested the NAS reports via the Linux software 1 hour of battery life. I am more than pleased. I run the cable, and phone through the UPS as well. The NAS has a 600watt power supply, modem, router and external back up are inconsequential. Product specs seem to be understated -- which is really unusual and very reassuring. I will be buying 2 more for the workstations. B&H had the best price.

We have purchased many of these for our engineering workstations. Where other brands fail, the APC keeps working.

Comments about APC Back-UPS XS 900VA 120V (Black):
APC is a very reliable company and the backup is priced right, but the fan continiously runs which makes the unit noisy. You can't conceal the unit because it creates a lot of heat. I bought the product for the reliable AVR since there are a lot of 'brown outs in my area during the summer months.

Comments about APC Back-UPS XS 900VA 120V (Black):
It was really easy to set up and the PowerChute (tm) software was simple to configure.
The outlets on the back of the unit are spaced with enough room that it didn't matter what type of plug I had (transformer or "normal"), there was enough room.
