A must-have for you're high-end display, specially if you are graphic designer or retouch lot of photos. It's easy to use and the possibility to save different "color-profiles" (example : print, photos retouching, etc.) is really useful too!

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
This calibration kit functions excellently for adjusting an NEC PA-series monitor. It is fast and easy to use, with no manual adjustment of monitor controls needed. The i1 Display Pro-based sensor initially needs more care to set up than the i1 Display 2; it projects out from the screen more than the older model (and also feels slightly lighter), and is thus less stable. After a few calibrations, I became used to setting it up quickly and effortlessly. The diffuser for measuring ambient light levels helps protect the sensor's optical element, and easily rotates out of the way for calibration; a good design, in my view. The software includes several test patterns to help check monitors for defects.

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
Actually, it's a great product, but... It fits for those who don't want to collect all parts separately.
In one hand it's good, but from another...
Just look.
Spectraview software is the best choice to calibrate NEC displays. It writes calibration data into internal display lookup table, not in your video card. So it makes calibration process more accurate and flexible.
But, spectrasensor pro is actually specialized version of an x-rite i1 Dispay Pro sensor.
In fact that its an OEM version, you can use this sensor only with NEC software, but not with x-rite programs.
So, if you own only NEC display(s), it would be a good choice. But if you would like to calibrate some other devices, for example projector or CRT display, it will be a problem.
Specialized OEM version of i1 Display Pro sensor limits the range of its capabilities.
As for me, I used this kit with my NEC MultiSync 2090Uxi display. The calibration process is fast and easy. Colors has become much more vivid.
On conclusion, I want to give an advice.
Buy original x-rite i1 Display Pro sensor kit with x-rite software bundle (then you'll be able to calibrate what ever you want) and separately buy NEC's SpectraView software.
It will work with x-rite sensor, just as it works with it's OEM sensor. You'll get all advantages of NEC's software and x-rite's hardware.

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
This is a good kit bundled to give you everything in one box. You can also piece it together by getting the coloromiter and the software separately, or even use a different brand of coloromiter or software. Some combo's are a little cheaper, but this kit is convenient, the Spectraview software is very easy to use, and with most calibration software, gives you reminders when it's time to re-calibrate at intervals you select. The coloromiter comes with a nice glove fit case that has the look of leather and sits nicely near the monitor ready for use. (My old coloromiter sat in the original box bundled with the cable etc. in a drawer.)
If you own an NEC monitor, some (maybe all) come with another adjustment software routine called Multiprofiler. Spectraview is another routine. Use one or the other. (Spectraview for the best adjustment quality.) Spectraview has many personal preferences you can select from time of re-cal notification (2 days to 4 weeks or never)type of emmulation you want, (sRGB, printer, photo editing, etc.) and many other options.
I use Spectraview on my photo computer and Multiprofiler on the other (internet) computer because I don't need to recalibrate it and it operates on lower resolution. (no bother or delays)
If you are buying a new NEC monitor and color calibration, the included kit with the SV series is a better value. But recent adjustments to the pricing now reflect about the same price seperately, as the bundled here at B&H. So either way is a good deal.

Although my NEC 2490WUXi2 monitor had great color out of the box, I wanted to ensure that I had the best calibration for photo editing. This kit installed quickly and I had the monitor calibrated within 15 minutes. The color rendition is spot on; the fact that the LUT is on the monitor and not the graphics card is an added bonus.

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
I bought this software separately after purchasing the NEC 2490WuxiII monitor several months ago so I could color calibrate it. I read reviews that it is not very user friendly in that it didn't give a great step by step guide. Although I agree it was a little difficult to figure out how to use, the guide is actually (overly) detailed and within an hour I had figured it out and had a nicely calibrated monitor. The easy thing to do is just set the white balance and let it do the rest. After going through the guide, I tested out how accurate this method would be and I feel the results are pretty good - at least I can't see any obvious color distortion with my eye.
This is my first calibrating device/software, so I don't have any frame of reference, although I've read that other software provides a before and after shot, which would be a neat feature (not included in this one). It certainly didn't deter me from buying this one, and if you are pretty techy, the advanced features can probably get you an incredibly precisely calibrated monitor, although the simple "auto-correction" works really well too.

I have an NEC 2690 and tried to calibrate with Spyder. This was not successful so acquired the Spectraview. Simple to use, accurate calibration. Everything is done automatically with a minimum of fuss.

I bought this to to calibrate a NEC3090WQXi for use with photography work on a Mac. Easy install of software and simple calibration process. Subsequent use of color profiles from my print lab (Mpix) and soft proofing in Photoshop helped me to get prints that matched what I saw on the monitor.

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
I bought a 2690 a year ago and knew I'd get this eventually. Just came in the mail and tried it out, here's my first impression (I'm driving it with a MacBook Pro I7):
1) WAY better than the normal 2690 color setting.
2) Only SLIGHTLY better when comparing to the Adobe 1998 color setting. You have to look REALLY close to see the difference. You can really tell in the bright oranges--Adobe 1998 is nuclear on my test image that has carrots and the NEC Spectraview is right on the money.
So:
If you're totally tight on money, just choosing the Adobe 1998 color setting might be the best bang for the buck (if you're also using a reasonably new Mac). Totally fine for great amateur work (cuz the 2690 is SO AWESOME). However, pros need this add on.
Bottom line: if you make money with your images you need this.

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
I purchased this sensor and software kit with my new NEC MultiSync PA241w monitor wide gamut monitor. I researched several calibration setups and decided on this one. This sensor puck is specially adjusted for use with NEC's wide gamut monitors. The software works with the sensor in a user friendly and intuitive way. You can set up multiple calibrations for various applications. I'm currently using Windows XP Pro, but this setup will work fine under both 32 or 64 bit Windows 7. I plan to migrate to Windows 7 and wanted no problems when I do.

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
When I got the NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 screen I was looking for a solution that would give consistent results. The NEC color sensor (which is actually a specially calibrated Xrite sensor) and the SpectraView II software allow me to hardware calibrate my screen, instead of manipulating the LUT in the graphics card.
In short, I've never had a better and more consistent color rendering. A must buy for owners of NEC screens that support hardware calibration inside the screen!

Comments about NEC Color Sensor and SpectraView II Software Kit:
I bought the SVII kit with the software & colorimeter to calibrate my NEC 2490 WUXi & recently purchased NEC 2490 WUXi2 monitors.
The new NEC branded puck works great and the instructions say it has been specially recalibrated to work with the wide-gamut monitors also.
This is a really nice system that requires no expertise to operate.
