Honl Photo Color Correction Filter Kit for Honl Photo Speed System
The Honl Photo Color Correction Filter Kit is a great accessory for your Honl Photo Speed System light modifiers. It allows you to match your flash's light output to the color balance of background lights, so that the room lights visible in your shots will look just as white and clean as the main illumination being provided by your strobe.
The kit consists of a pair of 1/2 CTB filters (to adjust a tungsten light to appear as normal daylight), two each of full/half/quarter CTO filters (which lower the Kelvin color value of your flash to match tungsten lights), and two full CTO + green filters (which match your strobes' output to the color balance of typical fluorescent lighting).
Instead of having perfectly-exposed subjects cast in front of dark rooms, or perfectly-exposed subjects with unnatural orange or green color casts upon the visible background lights, you'll now have the capacity for bright backgrounds with perfect color along with the easily-achieved perfectly-exposed subjects.
The aid of a color meter can help you choose which filter to use, but they're very costly and fragile. The easiest way to achieve proper balance is to have a professional white balance aid (such as ExpoDisc), and first take a color balance reading immediately adjacent to the background light. After setting your camera with that color balance, experiment with the gel filters a few times, examining the skin tones of your subjects on your camera's screen. When you find which gel renders your subjects most naturally, you then take a color balance reading with the gel in place upon your strobe, using the gel + strobe as the lighting source for your balance reading. Set your camera to this balance of color, and you're left with perfect skin tones and background lights which should appear quite natural.

This is a nice set of filters, easy to attach and labeled well. Stores nicely in Honl case. A little pricey considering you have to buy a separate cinch strap that, is a little high on price, in my opinion, since I found other brand of strap for two dollars that works just as well. Also if you put out a product and charge a premium, do not cross misprinted labels with a marker, that is what the Full CTO filter has on my set. Does not look right when that is done. Glad I bought it, but have a couple little items I might change if it was possible.

these filters fit the 580exii head perfectly and completely cover it unlike a few of the other gel packs on the market. You will have to pay a bit more for this though but it is well worth having corrected white balance.

I use these to quickly change my speedlite color temp to match my ambient light, or deal with challenging mixed lighting environments. They go on in a flash and come off just as easily. Make sure to buy the strap, I believe it is sold separately (which grips the flash very well).

The kit comes in 10 different colored filters with varying degrees of correction, Simple and easy to use. Had no problems switching from one color to another because of velcro stick on.
Would be more convenient if it comes with the strap on velcro that will fit all speedlite brands.
Friends saw mine and now would like to get their own.

I used to buy larger filter packs and cut them to size for my Canon Speedlights, however this system has everything the right size already with velcro attached. At first I thought this would be a little gimmicky, but I realize now it's actually cheaper and much more time-efficient. Only downside is when I use with a 15" Lastolite softbox, the opening in the bracket catches on the corners of the filters. This isn't a huge deal, and I could probably trim them a little to fit better.

They are easy to use (in conjuction with a HONL speed strap) plus have the convenience of the type of filter printed at the top of the filter for easy selection

These are great gels that attach easily to your flash with a velcro speedstrap. The only thing bad I can see about the velcro is that it makes it difficult to attach several cuts of the same gel to the flash if you need more correction than one gel can provide.

These are a great starter kit for gels. I bought them to keep in my backup light bag for quick use. Velcro works well. Difficult to use any other on flash accessories (snoot, diffuser) but you get a nice range of temps.

If you want quality, pro looking gels, then these are a good place to start. The nice thing about these, is that they can be used with other accessories, such as a bounce diffuser, gobo, etc.
They are well marked, and the velco is attached well.
Would I buy more? I'm not sure. At this price, they are pretty inflated. If you don't mind using gaffer's tape, and cutting them to size yourself, then that is a much cheaper way to go. If you are just starting out, on the other hand, and don't know what you want, these are pretty good, as you get a pretty good assortment package.

Works as advertised. That velcro is VERY solidly attached to the gels! Only downside is I don't see how I'll be able to use my Sto-fen diffuser with a gel in place. Can't wait to try the snoots and barn doors!

These work great if you want an easy solution. Once you start combining them with a diffuser or a grid, things become a bit more tricky. Since these gels are designed to fit all sizes of strobes, they are quite big for most smaller strobes. This means that adding a Honl Grid becomes very difficult.
If you buy regular sheets of CTO, you can cut them to the size you need and just use Gaffer tape to attach them. This also reduces the sideway spill of uncorrected light.
