The printer was up and running after 30min. Every time I plugged in the USB cable the driver asked to be re-installed until I figured out that I have to plug in the printer to the same USB port every time. Picture quality is great, print speed is sufficient but the software stinks. I am not talking about the driver but the Event software. Online help is sparse. I switched to photo shop and Hyper utility for printing.
Overall I would buy the printer again.

Initially I was happy with the printer. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is comparable to a print that came from a photo lab. The prints also came out very fast in under 15 sec.
The only thing that I am disappointed at is that every time I reconnect the printer to my computer, my computer re-installs the printers drivers and the printer appears as another printer and I have to then re-configure my software that I use on my computer to print from the new printer driver. This is not something that you want to have to do every time you disconnect and reconnect your printer.
Another thing that happens often is that the printer jams because of the cuttings in the top tray. After every print there is a cutter that cuts a strip of the print so that there is clean edges. For some reason the clippings seem to get stuck and not drop down, so the clipping eventually get in the way and jam the printer. Fixing a jam in this printer is not like fixing a jam in a traditional inkjet printer. It takes a lot more time and patience.
Other than that, this printer does produce awesome prints in a very short time.
I've had this printer for over 3 months now

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
I've owned a couple different dye sub printers by other manufacturers. This one is by far the best! Even the "busiest" picture prints out in about 20 seconds flat. It looks great and feels solid. With this printer in my collection, I never have to go to the developer again.
The menu takes a couple minutes to get use to, and if you use it with a program like Photoshop or Elements, it might take you a few minutes to figure out why its not printing. But in its defense, I'm a goober when it comes to Elements.
If you get a little creative, you can figure out countless ways of making your initial investment back off of this printer. If you call yourself a hardcore enthusiast, you've got to purchase one of these while they're in stock.

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
I use three of these printers for on-site event printing, and have used them side-by-side with other brands. Tthe Hiti is the easiest to (re)load and most durable in appearance. Price per print is lowest among the brands I have used too.
I am using these on Mac's, so the software is irrelavent to me. What is a bit frustrating is that to update firmware you must have a Windows PC available.
With the latest firmware and drivers, the color can be fine tuned. While it is not perfect, I can get much better results than in the past.
At a typical event, I will produce between 1200 and 1600 prints. So far, the Hiti's have never let me down.

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
We purchased two of these printers to use at events that we do throughout our community.
In the past we have printed pictures using 6 Cannon Selphys and then purchased custom frames to include our branding. We always try to maximize our chances at keeping our business in front of potential customers as they display their picture.
The Hiti's E-Frame ability is a huge plus and has equated to a huge cost savings for us- we just took our cost/picture from $1.35(with frame) to $.22!
Print quality is good, this printer will acurately reproduce your image in print. It also has the ability to print both matte and glossy with same paper!
Speed is adequate- this weekend I took 211 pictures within a 4 hour span and no one waited more than 3 minutes to recieve their pictures. 4X6 prints in 33 seconds from the time you click print.
Ease of Use- You can show someone how to use this printer in less than a minute!
We print 4000-5000 pictures per year with all of the events we do and these printers work like a TIMEX!
If high quality, fast, custom branded event pictures are what your looking for; BUY THIS PRINTER!

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
I've only printed out a few photos already, but I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. The build quality of the printer is great, the on-board controls are fairly intuitive, and the prints are fast and very professional looking. This is my first professional photo printer (and the most expensive by far), so doing about anything with it was a bit unnerving, but installing the paper and ribbon was easy, and I didn't feel like things could easily break.
As mentioned in the other reviews the main downside is the software. It's not horrible, but it's not as good as the hardware. It's obvious the software and manual were not originally in English and were translated somewhat poorly in places. This isn't a big worry, though - everything on the printer works well, and software can always be updated.
Overall, I'd give the P510s two thumbs up.

I bought this for my photobooth company and can't believe I didn't buy it sooner. I used Epson PictureMates for years and, thought they're fine machines, they're soul-crushingly slow. They're fine for other purposes, but in the high-speed world of photobooths and instant gratification, this is the way to go. I will be buying another soon and will be happy to spend the money.

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
I bought this printer last week based on the reviews. Over the last week, I got a chance to print about 200 images - all nice quality. Today I took it to an event - and yes, I removed the paper box and the film cartridge and reinstalled the shipping foam. When I got to the event, I set it all back up and again ran some very nice test prints. Ten minutes before the event, it threw an "ADC" code - too bad there is nothing in the manual or online to tell me what that meant or what I should do about it. The printer - and my event contract - were dead. I expected this thing to last for 200,000 prints - not 200.
I know manufacturing on this product was affected by natural disasters - I really wonder if quality control was put on the back burner to get production back on line.
This printer cost me a lot of money today - what else do you need to know?

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
This printer is a great addition to my event photo setup. Speed is critical when trying to get customers in and out at an event. It is very fast and pictures come out beautiful. So far it has been consistent with producing what I see on my screen. The paper and ribbon is cinch to install, and so far no paper jams like others have been complaining about. I think that might be due to some leaving the paper and ribbon in the printer when transporting it. I really like the fact that I now have better price point (cost per print) to work with. Not having to keep loading paper and ink. Right now 1 roll lasts me through the event but if it didn't I be happier because then I made some real $$$! If it's noisy I didn't notice, and at the speed it's printing I would expect some type of noise, as soon as the printer starts, within a min. I'm handing the customer a print. My little problem is setting my computer to keep up with this machine. I haven't really worked with the included software so I can't comment on it, and I need to sit for a min and learn to set it to print 5x7 without having to tell it to every time I start a new print (it's set for 4x6 by default) I can tell you that it paid for it's self in my first weekend of using it!! So if your in need of something to speed up your event printing without breaking your piggy bank, then this would be the printer to get! [...]

I use this printer for my wedding/events business. The print speed and quality make this printer the best addition to our events. I can have multiple units printing to this one printer because each print only takes about 12 seconds. Most expensive printer I have bought thus far, worth every penny.

Decided to buy this, because it is a fomus manufacturer on the world, making really good quality devices for professionals. For under $1000 you will own a best printer for home studio and official use.We like how this is really fast, printing beautyfull photos with vibrant colors and sharp details. You don't waste your money for dried, unused inks. You don't have to wait when your prints will dry out. They are ready just after leave printer. professionally prepared papers and ribbons are great and really easy with installation and fast switching with sizes.Printers is quaiet. No noises, weird sounds like inkjet printers doing. No dirty fingers with inks.Only pros, one cons - could be with network interface. Very recommended.

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
Bought the printer last week 6/20 and used it this weekend for a custom photobooth/studio service.
Setup: Very easy, just insert roll and ribbon and turn it on. I used CD to setup drivers but looked at HITI website found new drivers available. So make sure to download latest drivers.
Use/Results: Printer was very fast compared to previous inkjet. When using for direct print from the photobooth software the printer takes about 30 seconds from the time the softwar sends to printer for processing. The colors and quality of each print is great! The listed 12 seconds is perhaps for big batch processing or standalone use but I have yet to really use either option.
Issues: I did have a slight issue on the way it cut the paper but was able to adjust cutting alignment easily. There were other previous comments about paper jams and honestly i didn't have a jam after printing out 220 prints in 3hrs without discarding the scraps. i only discarded it the day after when prepping for the next event. It is a little bit noisy but only noticeable when in a quiet room, which if you are using for event work will not be noticeable.
Overall the printer will make your clients very happy as people rarely expect to get a print so quickly and then for me to quickly reprint copies was a bigger bonus. Over one weekend I have printed over 385 prints with no major problems.
For the price it is a great deal!

I have only had the printer for a few days but so far I can say that the printer gives great results and kicks the prints out quickly. I have every reason to believe it will be a great help in my business. On the downside I did need to contact tech support about a firmware issue. Their website is outdated in areas, poor and provides little help. HiTi's tech support in the US is handled out of a very small office with only a few people there. They are not dedicated support people but also handle the phones for anything that comes including dealers orders. They are difficult to reach and although they try to be helpful communication is somewhat difficult.

Comments about HiTi P510S 6" Dye Sub Roll-Type Photo Printer (US/CA version):
I work at a nonprofit and we purchased this printer about a month ago and have begun using it. This printer was purchased because it touted fast and easy printing with the option to add boarders and cranked out 330 pictures per roll of paper & ink. A dream come true when you're taking pictures or families and young children with Santa- especially great if those people receive their picture quickly and efficiently. That part is true. It prints much more quickly than our last method and is simple enough to use. So, upon initial set up the printer came with one boarder saying it was easy to install other boarders. Not true. The instructions are far from instructional and the eframe converter software it comes with is less than useful. In fact it is frustrating. According to the advertisement, each ribbon of ink is enough for one roll or paper. In our case, red was used up very quickly making the rest of the ribbon useless. Maybe I am judging too quickly, but so far, I am not as impressed as the other users.
