Using the Altec VS2621 on a desktop pc. I looked both online and in local computer centers before I purchased and found the speakers delivered very good sound for a reasonable cost in comparison with other speaker computer systems. The small side speakers will fit in nicely in limited spaces on your desk. There is an adjustment for volume and treble only. Would have been nice to have a bass setting - but it's not a major distraction. Also, the power on/off switch could have been in a more convenient location - it's positioned on the back side of the bass unit. All considered it is a very good purchase for the price and gives sound comparable to more expensive systems.

I use this speaker system connected to my Sony Vaio laptop.

After buying a couple of sets of other brand speakers (and returning them) at local retailers, those just didn't satisfy the sound requirements I was looking for. This set delivers great with the high and mid sound levels. The subwoofer is very good too.

Compared to another set of Altec speakers I have, the subwoofer for this set is not as powerful but very adequate.
Even though this set doesn't hit all the deepest lows, I recommend this set to other buyers, plus B&H had the lowest price (no tax and no shipping).
This was the first time I used B&H and the product was brand new, and delivered as promised in a timely manner. 5 stars for B&H, 4.3 for the product due to limits on subwoofer.

I use this product for speakers in my home video editing suite. They sound like speakers that cost hundreds of dollars. The bass the incredible and the overall sound is very clean. I am very happy with this product.

More likely 3.5I used to have an older Altec VS2121 and was amazed by the great and strong sound it had. When the right speaker decided to die on me I made some research, read great reviews about this model and went ahead purchasing it. You can't beat B&H price[...].The speakers are quite strong and will deliver good sound for the average user, yet I found them to be inferior to the older equal model.The older model, as simple, lousy and cheap it looked, delivered a superior home theater (!) sound in terms of quality and strength, while this system puts it all in perspective once again. Those speakers are definitely a good computer speakers but far from delivering a magical home theater sound.Let me narrow it down for you, from some reason the bass coming from the sub woofer is not as strong as expected, while the speakers are somewhat lacking a rich sound to them while being very "twittery". Of course you can play with the tone controller on the left speaker, but I found it even more annoying since literally, 90% of it barely effects the sound at all, only when you turn it all the way to the let (remaining 10%) it will then add some lousy bass which basically just blurs the sound, it does not effect the bass on the sub, therefore makes it hard to reach a good balance between the high pitch speakers to the mediocre sub woofer.All of that being said from a more picky point of view. But again, if you are an average user who wants good speakers for a cheap price, this is definitely one option.

FOR THE PRICE IT WAS THE BEST COMPUTER SOUND SYSTEM I
EVER TRIED. HAD FEATURES THAT COST TWICE THE PRICE IN OTHER SYSTEMS, WHICH I HAVE ALSO OWNED. NO DOWNSIDE TO THIS SYSTEM UNLESS YOUR EXPECTING MIRACLES.

I did a lot of research on speakers before put order. The decision was based on:
1) use of it: for computer movies, music, since the computer could not provide that good source, there was no need to buy expensive speakers,
2) price was good
3) sound is good per price.

Nice clear sound with no "tinny" content whatever. Might not be what the true audiophile seeks - but exactly meets my needs and expectations for sound output from the computer. A HUGE improvement over the typical 2 watt built-ins - and well worth the moderate price level.

This is the most economical speakers I found. I daily use it and it has good RMS power. You will get what is there in spec. No disturbances in music... Just goes smooth. Don't judge speakers by playing just one song. Performance depends on the song also.

I bought these speakers to replace my Kinyo computer speakers. First off, BH had them for $10-$15 cheaper than anyone else. Second, they're Altec Lansing for cryin' out loud. I was not prepared for the crystal clear speakers and deep rich sounding sub-woofer. Also, compared to the old Kinyo's, there is no heavy transformer to plug in with.
