The NDY-1 Nova Dynamics Pedal from TC Electronics is a dual engine compression and noise gate pedal for guitarists. It features multiple modes for different effects and uses, as well as two sets of inputs and outputs to suit different scenarios. It gives guitarists a boost in signal presence that they can adjust from subtle to dramatic, as well as giving them a tool to suppress unwanted noise.
TC Electronics has gone to great lengths to make the NDY-1 as user friendly as possible. The murky world of compression can often become confusing. However, the streamlined controls of the NDY-1 encourage a creative approach to dynamics. Adding more sustain, bringing out more twang, and making your tone jump from a mellow presence to a real attention grabber are all easily accomplished with the NDY-1.
An illuminated A/B toggle button resides in the center of the NDY-1. Turn it on and the pedal will allow you to cycle through two separate settings by stomping on either switch. There are two "algorithm" buttons that change the mode of either engine from "studio," "stomp," and "n.gate." Studio mode enables a multi-band compressor, which compresses the highs, mids, and lows separately. Stomp mode makes the NDY-1 act more like a traditional sustain pedal. N.gate mode enables the noise gate, allowing you to suppress unwanted noise and experiment with more extreme settings.
