The DroboPro 8-Bay Array Enclosure from Data Robotics is an external storage enclosure, designed for use in professional environments. The array system, which offers many of the benefits of a RAID while avoiding the inflexibility associated with RAID storage, can connect to a computer via iSCSI, FireWire-800, or USB 2.0.

The professional array can connect via iSCSI, which uses a standard Gigabit Ethernet connection to directly attach storage to a computer. It delivers bus speeds superior to those provided by FireWire-800 or USB 2.0. The array ships in a desktop configuration; an optional 3U rackmount kit is available.

The enclosure supports up to 8 standard 3.5" SATA hard drives. You can configure the storage capacity of the Drobo to suit your needs; you'll even be able to mix and match drive capacities without sacrificing data protection. The DroboPro features Smart Volume management technology, eliminating the need to manually resize and migrate volumes.

: • 8-disk capacity, allowing you to populate the enclosure with up to 16TB using the largest hard drives currently available on the market

: • Mix and match hard drives of any capacity, there is no rigid requirement for equally sized drives as there is in a RAID

: • BeyondRAID technology protects against 2 simultaneous hard disk failures, allows you to expand array capacity with zero downtime, automatically performs management tasks, and performs self-healing

: • Self-Healing design detects "bad" hard disks, warns you, and then enters a self-healing mode where it makes repairs around the bad sector or disk, helping to eliminate data loss

: • Dual disk redundancy mode protects against the simultaneous failure of 2 hard disks; you can revert to single disk redundancy without reformatting, migrating data, or losing data

: • Connects via iSCSI over Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire-800, or USB 2.0

: • Smart Volume management technology allows volumes to pull storage from a common pool of disks, rather than a specific physical disk allocation; there is no need to resize or migrate volumes

: • Can be formatted as NTFS, HFS Plus, EXT3, or FAT32

: • Dual smart fans make the DroboPro a quiet addition to your desktop; an optional rackmount kit is available for professional installation
