i love wqxr and i live in the country with only two classical radio stations, one of which has talk, talk, and more talk, mostly about how awful the world situation is. my son bought me this wonderful gift, the wifi/wireless internet radio, so that i could listen to classical music stations and my other favorite, serge reggiani and other great internatonal singers. now , i can imagine that i am in new york city, where great music is happening, without all the hoopla, and i can feel the cool breezes from the trees, smell the clean air, and look at the deer and the dogs running through the woods... and i don't have to go anywhere.

I'd consider this the first generation of internet radio receiver. The display is somewhat hard to read. It works as advertised but I'm sure that the next generation will boot up faster and connect to Pandora and other music websites. Eventually tuner-amplifiers should have this built in - it is the future of home entertainment.

Comments about Aluratek WiFi/Wireless Internet Radio, Home Theater Edition:
Looks good, was easy to connect and does what it is made for. But it produces a continuous static sound through the speakers which is noticable at low volume and even with the volume completely down. Also when switching the unit to ON, either with the switch or remote control, it produces a momentarily very loud crackling sound, so keep your amplifier volume down to avoid blowing your speakers. Also the display can be hard to read because the plastic cover mirrors the ambient light. But except for these issues it works well. The sound quality is good and it is easy to use.

Comments about Aluratek WiFi/Wireless Internet Radio, Home Theater Edition:
I am using my wireless internet tuner to beable to listen to classical pbs station now. For the first time since USF changed its programing to two stations: classical and talk over a year ago, I had extremly poor reception from the music station. So much so, I cancelled my contributions. With my wireless tuner, I have my music back and access to so many more music sites. Thank you

I bought this because my old Wifi tuners died. the Aluratek works well but will sometimes loose the WEP security code and need reprogramming. Otherwise, does what it should and does it well.

I hooked up the tuner to my audio system. I'm have it on right now. it is clear. I had a little trouble with the setup. But the help service solved it. I filled in my favorite stations and do not have to search for them.
The original set up stations was confusing but once the are in the favorite menu it easy.

I use the equipment in a multi room, its configuration and operation is very easy, just felt the lack of a speaker built into the display device and a digital optical audio output, would make its use in more complete receiver

This internet radio seems to work fairly well, but it is unable to stream my favorite classical station, one of the most widely followed in the world -- Los Angeles readio KUSC. While their support people have been very helpful, they are now recommending I return the unit because they can't solve the problem.

Comments about Aluratek WiFi/Wireless Internet Radio, Home Theater Edition:
I connected this product to my upstairs home entertainment system as my computer and router are located in my basement office. I can now listen to my favorite internet radio station(s) without having to be seated at my computer only. I am in a very poor reception area for FM and my station selection is next to nothing with no variety. This product has opened up a whole new world (pardon the pun) for my listening enjoyment which includes primarilly listening to classical music from some radio stations located in the United Kingdom. The only drawback with the product is that it drops the signal on occasion but usually reconnects within 5 to 10 seconds. I'm thinking this is the nature of the beast and could have to do with my particular setup. It doesn't happen often enough to ruin the enjoyment I derive from it - the pluses way outweigh the minuses. Initially, I also found it a little difficult to get a handle on the remote control functions to operate the unit. The price range is excellent. I would recommend this product without reservation.

Comments about Aluratek WiFi/Wireless Internet Radio, Home Theater Edition:
What's great:
I am using it with my wireless router to play internet radio stations on my home stereo. Unpacking, connecting it, set-up of my favorite station in Europe was done in a few minutes. The sound quality of 128 bit/sec live streams is great. The manual lists the Aluratek website that offers a tool to search for stations world wide and add those you like via a mouse click to the favorite list of the receiver. What a great feature!
Some small drawbacks:
Moving through the menues of the receiver with the remote control is ok, not great. The manual does not clearly state how to get to the main screen - trial and error helps. Connection to the wireless route sometimes takes a minute or two with several attempts. Some stations have occasional short drop outs - probably not a fault of the receiver.
Overall: Very good product, would buy it again and recommend it to friends.

It may have been my mistake, but I just wanted an internet radio to listen to. Did not realize that this one needed to be plugged into speakers. Have you ever tried to buy external speakers that aren't usb? I even had someone try to sell me i-pod charging station while saying I could wire the radio into the jacks. These are very nice radios and I'm sorry it did not work for me. If you have a Home Theater it should work great.

I connected this to the stereo in my office. Our local radio option are very limited and I am delighted to now have an endless almost list to choose from.
Being able to use the Aluratek website & list of stations available is a great tool and it makes the use of the unit even more pleasurable. Also being able to program in a station that I listen to but was not listed is another great feature.
My only suggestion to enhance this product would be to have the ability to have preset buttons on the remote control for favorite stations, instead of have to scroll thru the list on the LCD screen on the unit..

I hooked the AIREC01F up in less than 20 minutes from opening the box and was listening to internet radio on my home stereo amplifier within 5 minutes of that. It's very simple to use even if you're not computer savvy. It would be nice if you could program presets instead of just having a list of favorites but it's easy to navigate anyway. The unit is small with an easy to read display, has a USB port so you can play music from a portable hard drive or MP3 player through it. Thousands of stations to listen to, no static, I love it!!!

This is by far, the best but least inexpensive gift I have bought for myself this year. I am really into technology and love my gadgets. This thing by far has produced nothing but a pleasant satisfaction. Set up was a breeze and I don' think I would ever be able to access all the music avaliable on the net. Coupled to a receiver, you save hundreds! Receivers that allow access to internet radios come at a cost. I highly recommend this product!

A great way to stay connected with your past lives, colleges, and areas of residence. I have recommended it to my kids and for their friends who are far from their home country.
It is straight forward, logical in operation but it would be helpful if you could have a screen for inputting a local station's call letters to obtain its streaming address without having to hunt and peck through the stations or go on line to find the stream address.
