Nice battery which at the time of my purchase was a cheaper alternative to Panasonic's equivalent. Upon doing time tests in my camera (in continuous record mode), it easily lasted several hours. The 3 blue LED's to gauge remaining power are handy, however the button you press to light the LED's requires a firm press of the thumb. Another slight drawback is the camera's display does not show remaining time with this battery, unlike the Panasonic brand. However overall if you want to save a few dollars this battery is well worth it!

It should be noted that this isn't a 100% replacement for the Panasonic equivalent battery. The Panasonic version is 5400mAh, a roughly 8% greater capacity than this one at 5000mAh.
The greatest advantages for the IDX battery are the slightly lower price (as of 2/5/11) and the LED indicator.
The LED indicator on the back of the battery has FULL, 2/3, 1/3 and EMPTY indicators, but they are somewhat misleading (over 1/2 the charge is remaining when it shows 1/3). Also, the LED indicator is not correct when checked during active camera operation.
And as mentioned in other reviews, the minutes remaining indicator in the camcorder LCD display does not work with this battery (as it does with the Panasonic brand batteries).
With the price difference no longer being that severe, I would probably purchase the Panasonic-branded version next time.

I have a Panasonic HMC150 HD Video Camera. I have two VBG50 Batteries that I use for in the field shooting. Both of the batteries perform exceptionally well in hot and cold climates and they have been very reliable. This is important when you are a couple hours from the closest truck or charging station. I would recommend this battery to anyone.

I purchase this item for Panasonic HMC151(PAL-European model) and it last around 2 and 1/2 hours. Considering that the included model in HMC151 package (Panasonic VW-VBG260 - 2500 mah) last for around 2 hours is not a very good deal for this 5000 mah batery pack! But at least the price is fair :-)

I really enjoy being able to push a button to be able to tell how much life is left in the battery. These batteries hold their charge for a while. I bought two and I have not found myself switching batteries during a shoot.
