This Ikelite compact mechanical underwater housing is designed for the Sony HDR-XR500 and HDR-XR520 camcorders. The housing is molded of clear polycarbonate, and includes an optical-glass lens port with removable UR pro filter. The housing port is threaded to allow the use of an optional 67mm threaded wide-angle conversion lens. Other wide-angle options include the optional Raynox HD-5050 placed on the camcorder. You can then use the Ikelite dome port #9304 or the flat port #9304. The Fathom Hi Def port WP-80 is also compatiable with this housing.
The camera's LCD monitor can be viewed from the rear of the housing, using the External Mirror featured on the side of the housing. The external mirror is hinged so that it can be opened to reflect the image from the camera's LCD monitor. This housing includes (IRC) Image Reversing Circuitry. The circuit reverses (flips) the image and text on the LCD screen so that when the image is reflected in the External Mirror, it appears correct left-to-right. For another viewing option a Super Eye magnifier for the optical viewfinder is also included.
The housing is easy to use and will allow you to capture the moment underwater in video or digital stills. Features include many controls including: power on/off, record-start/stop, zoom, photo, focus lock, and LCD reversing circuit on/off. Controls for the LCD Screen Touch Pad provides access to white balance, and white balance shift. The housing is rated to a depth of up to 200'.

- The UR/Pro color-correcting filter enhances the warm reds and oranges that are lost underwater. The filter secures to the outside of the port offering easy installation and removal. The filter provides quality results with available sunlight underwater up to 80'.

The housing Image Reversing Circuitry "flips" the image in the camera's LCD so that its reflection in the mirror appears correct left-to-right.This is really great, but Camera microphone is disabled when Reversing Circuitry is turned on, so You record no sound when underwater. Ikelite should do something to fix this.
The other thing is that the housing becomes too much negative when pro 3 lite lightening is used.
