The PP-WING-LCD7KIT ProPrompter Wing 7" LCD Kit with Software from ProPrompter is a prompting system designed to work with small to midsize camcorders. The wing component in this solution attaches to any tripod mount. Its forward arm swings to the right or left of the lens where you attach the 7" VGA LCD, allowing you to fine tune its position. Moreover, the LCD offers a number of adjustable parameters to meet the needs of your work.
The individual components in this package have been selected for tight integration to form a complete, turnkey solution. It includes all hardware, as well as the prompting software required to run scripts. The software is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers.

I will use this product mainly as a tele prompter in creating instructional DVD's where in certain sections I have a lot of text to read. It will save me from looking down at a script as I have done in other projects.
Secondly I will use the product as a monitor for the same kind of projects where I will be able to do a 2 camera shoot and monitor my positioning from my seat. Before now I have always needed a camera operator, but using the monitor (which has 2 inputs) I will be able to switch from one camera to another to make sure I am correctly positioned. Both of these uses are reall valuable to me.
However, in the instructional booklet the text is so small that it cannot be read by me, and the text on the DVD cover is cut off and is also not readable. On such an expensive item I would expect way more care in how the package is put together for the consumer. It seems they are intent on persuading the customer to buy the next (more expensive) tele prompter rather than taking care of the customer who just paid a lot of money to purchase the one they could afford. I did not like this attitude, particularly since I now know that an iPad will do the same job (it has a tele prompter function built in), giving you multiple fonts to choose from at a much cheaper price.

Using for company videos and was worried about the size of the screen. Need to have our subjects be able to read their scripts but not be so close that you could see their eyes move back and forth but appear like they're looking in the camera. If the subject is about 6-8 feet away it seems to work fine.
Only criticism are:
- Mount puts the camera too far back on the tri-pod. With a small camera it's okay but with a bigger camera it could be a problem with balancing.
- There is no mounting lock pin like other devices, there's just the one threaded knob. Without the pin you have to really tighten the knob to make sure the camera doesn't rotate.
- No protective case for the LCD panel. Had to buy a netbook slip-case to keep the panel from getting scratched during transport and storage.
- ProPrompter Software included with package is okay but sometimes seems slow and unresponsive.
