A great tool for teaching and imaging, the Celestron #44430 Digital LCD & Camera Microscope Accessory is a digital camera with 3.5" LCD that attaches to most any 'non-toy' microscope (whether binocular or monocular or trinocular viewers). You remove your scope's eyepiece and this device takes its place in the optical path, or in the case of CS or C-mount fittings you fit this accessory to your scope maker's C-mount adapter.
With a built-in swivel/rotate joint, the Digital LCD & Camera Microscope Accessory can quickly assume the most comfortable viewing position for a single observer or a group of students. Powered by internationally-compatible AC voltage (EU & UK style plug adapters are included), it is able to directly affix to the eyepiece tubes of monocular/binocular viewers but will also attach to C or CS-mount imaging paths. In fact, given that it is easily adapted to the threaded C and CS-mounts, this instrument could be used like an eyepiece directly on the rear of any telescope which was configured for C/CS mount imaging.
Image capture from the CMOS imaging sensor is done via native 2048 x 1536 resolution to either an SD memory card or to the 32MB of internal flash memory. If you use the flash memory, a mini USB cable (supplied) is used to extract the images from the device. In addition to the 3.5MB stills, this accessory also can capture videos at VGA resolution.
This accessory's protected by Celestron's 2-year warranty.

Comments about Celestron Digital LCD & Camera Microscope Accessory:
I teach microscopics to 2nd year college students. For the price this is a great deal. Ihave been able to use a TV with this as a teaching aid and with the help of a dazzle interface have been able to hook it to a computer.
The only real complaint I would have is the photographic mode. When in higher power having to touch the face moves it and causes focus to shift. However the feed to the outside and use of a computer overcomes this weak feature.
The great benefits outweigh the weak photographic modes which can be gotten around with the correct program and connections which I already owned.

Comments about Celestron Digital LCD & Camera Microscope Accessory:
I bought the accessory because in my work I need to take many photographs through the microscope. Traditionally I'd been using a Nikon Coolpix adapted to a Zeiss trinocular scope, but the results were only passable. I intended to replace it, but the traditional photomicrography equipments in the market are hugely expensive. So I gave it a shot and bought this equipment hoping it would work as advertised.
I was very disappointed with the results. The lighting is not good and very inconsistent. The camera (its optics, or its sensor) is completely misaligned within the camera body (I believe you can see that "grossly": if you look into the camera body, the optic sensor behind a circular retainer is not centered where I think it should be). As a result, in spite of still being circular, the lower left half of the final image is completely out of focus. This is specially notable when the 5x and 10x objectives are used. With the 40x objective the effect is less apparent (I did not tested it with the immersion objective, though), but the color rendering was disgusting.
Unfortunately I threw away so many dollars...

Comments about Celestron Digital LCD & Camera Microscope Accessory:
The world of microbiology and histology has changed radically since I last worked at it. I am constantly amazed at the new material and tools available. This Digital LCD screen and camera are tremendously useful in that I don't have to spend hours trying to draw the subjects I'm studying; and, I have an accurate representation of the bacteria and cells for identification. The accessory is easy and fun to use. I can find no downside to it and would highly recommend it to anyone -- amateur or professional researcher or lab worker.
