The AJA Ki-PRO is a unique recording device designed to streamline post production workflow by simplifying video acquisition. The unit features both SDI and HDMI inputs, making it compatible with most prosumer and professional cameras. The KiPRO takes advantage of Apple's ProRes technology for a seamless transition from "lens to post." The device records to high-capacity drives from a wide variety of cameras and comes equipped with a 250GB drive for large recording capacity.

I now have installed 3 of these kipro units in church applications and they are not only easy to setup but work extremely well. I love the many connections options on the back of the unit. I highy recommend this product!

I love this unit. we use it in our prod dept to cut the cost of using tapes. We're gonna save a few thousand dollars in our first 6 months. We just ordered a second one. The only issue we've had with the first one, was losing audio for long recordings over 4 hours. It randomly finishes the long video files without audio. But it hasn't happened lately. Over all this unit rocks! Having access to the settings thru my iphone is a great feature i use all the time.
What can I say: ProRes - all day everyday - instant insert and edit, right from the hard drive.

I used it for recording takes made on alexa for on set reviewing and continuity purposes during feature filmmaking.
I have to admit that it's a good unit, low noise, lightweight, good for its price. But it does crash when not powered off before shutting down (happens a lot on chaotic film sets).
What really bothers me that it also nearly crashes when you playback a shot and suddenly the hdsdi cable is hooked off (which normally shouldn't affect eachother)

We use the ki pro during our live event and this is the best harddisk recorder. we need to record te sessions and edit this and have it ready for next session and this works great on the ki pro and final cut.

We hooked up the unit and straight out of the box it did exactly what it was supposed to! We use it to record the program out on our switcher. The ProRes 422 allows us t o then take the show into FCP without any problems! Love it!

I use two units on set, and get excellent quality of video from two cinealta f900r cameras. Picture quality is much better than from HDCAM tape.
But i get with this periodical hang, lost timecode from hdsdi source and many unpleasant trifles like a cheap unprofessional buttons on the front panel.
