Aqua Tech ASCC-3 SoftCap
The Aqua Tech SoftCap is a light and practical alternative to the leather 'snoot' style caps that are delivered with Canon and Nikon's big telephoto lenses today.
Constructed from a pliant silicon material, the SoftCap makes a snug fit right at the end of the lens barrel and is very unlikely to come off by accident.
You'll save a bit of weight and mass; and with a big lens to carry, every bit of savings counts--on a long journey, even a straw weighs a ton.
This SoftCap fits both the older non-stabilized versions of the current lenses as well as the current models, and can also be combined with Aqua Tech's SoftHood collapsible fabric hoods.

I like to carry my 300 f2.8 in different bags, and so the factory cap has been very awkward to use when not in the factory case.
It fits perfectly, I have yet to find any problems with it!

These Aquatech caps fit in the lens snugly and securely without touching the glass. I frequently need to travel by air with both a 300 f2.8 and a 600 f4. By putting these Aquatech lens caps on the big lenses I can save a lot of space in my carry on luggage while keeping the glass well protected. I can now carry both lenses in my carry on along with a couple of camera bodies and a few smaller lenses. The hoods and Canon lens covers go in my suitcase.

I'm not sure how good this product is, ore if it's the original lens cap that's bad. The original in leather is bulky to get of and on and so big, when all you need is a silicone (ore rubber) disk this size. the original I'm referring to is canons leather pouch. for 300/2,8.

Wonderful lens cap. Works great with my 300mm f/2.8 IS. It's easy to install and remove and provides great protection for the front element when storing the lens in my camera bag. This is so much more efficient than the Canon lens cap to get on and off. Great product and design!

If you're trying to trim your some girth off your gear bag, this is one way to do it. This cap is a lot smaller than the original Canon cap. A lot smaller; and more dust proof.
