It is stiff and hard to move out of one position without overshooting the next position.Flash does not work in all modes – check your manual.Both lights are Fixed in direction so bounce lighting is out of the questionNeither the Flash nor the Video light is particularly bright, slightly better than the built in unit.Power consumption is low, and overall it does a good job is most situations. I ran mine 1:37 and it still shows 1:10 remaining (BP 819)It is light weight so it won't be left behind.

I ordered a much cheaper lighjt would not work on the Cannon Camcorder so i sent it back for the VFL-2 not as good a light as the cheaper one !!

Great light. Great price compared to Canon website. I used this light indoors.it is good for close UPS...and it is actually mandatory if you are using the wide angle lenses attachment, because the lenses blocks the default light...

A full-featured light that provides decent coverage and also flashes if you're taking stills with the Canon Vixia HF S11. You have to choose between the flash and shotgun mic because the intelligent mount only takes one at a time. Running it on battery noticeably reduces battery life.

I use this product while I file video and take pictures at the same time. I like the fact that you can use the Flash and the Light at the same time. Another good thing about this is there are no cords hanging from the camera to power the device works off the Camera Battery.
