If you're having trouble getting good over-the-air reception from your HDTV or converter box, the Terk Technologies FDTV1A Flat Digital Omni Directional Amplified Indoor Antenna (Black) just may be the accessory you need. The flat, digital antenna employs a high gain design to pick up more distant stations, and its 360° reception pattern means you won't have to keep making adjustments to receive your local channels.
The antenna has an Extremely Low Noise (ELN) amplifier for outstanding digital TV reception without signal saturation. But you can remove the amp if signal strength is not a problem in your area. The attractive black antenna is designed to blend in with your existing TV gear, and comes with a 3-way mounting bracket so that it can be used hanging, standing, or lying flat. It's very nice to have a flat antenna so it's not sticking out into the room. Having multiple ways to mount it is nice as well. It feels a little delicate, but probably better that it's lightweight since it's hanging on the wall. There seems to be a little trade off in reception for flatness compared to other antennas, but it still works well enough for me. I borrowed a different TERK antenna from my sister and her's got slightly better reception, but it was not flat.
In the Metro-Detroit area and i get all stations broadcasting in the area using the amplifier. I can get most stations reasonably well without the amplifier, but not all and others broke up from time to time. I mounted it on the wall as close to the ceiling as i could for it to get the best reception in my apartment/living room. Took a bit of playing around holding the antenna in different spots and positions to find what worked well for all stations. I have the signal split between my TV and a MediaPC and it seems to keep signal to both well (with a quality splitter). The only thing i wish it had was a power switch on the amplifier to save power when not using it. Overall I'd recommend giving it a try.

This product was ordered with great expectation and good on line reviews.
But mine arrived DOA.
I had Sony guide me through a complete system rescan and check to try to get the antennae to function but Sony said NO signal.
So I called the TERK Tech Support Hot Line as instructed on their instructions.
An excellent Technician guided me through a check list and then had me touch the amplifier box and when I said "room temp" he gave me an address to return it so they could provide a working amplifier.
I am waiting with great expectation. BUT be warned you may get a dead one also.

This is the 2nd one that I have purchased from you and it is great. You shipped it like the speed of light and I would purchase again. No problems with me & have had a week signal only if was stormy or a lot of wind outside but this is not frequent.

I use this antenna with my Audiovox 9" under cabinet TV and it performs exceptionally well. The reception is pretty good but when I put it near a window I received 7 more TV stations after I re-scanned my channels. I used this unit to replace an RCA antenna and there is no comparison. I am satisfied with this antenna and I like the quality and value it delivers.

Receiving off the air terrestrial broadcasting without a problem. Limited reception inside but better near windows. Really much better than expected. I wish it was more solid and would stay in one place...the cable drags it around and I had to tape that. A softer cable also helped solve that. But, all in all it works very well and we get High Def off the air without charge! Wow!

I didn't know getting the major networks could be so easy. After getting so tired of paying [$]/mo for cable every month that I never watched, I cancelled my cable and got this so that I could watch breaking news. I have it placed in front of a window with an open view and it works perfectly -- I get NBC, CBS, Fox, and ABC, the only stations I really care about. Super easy to set up, clear reception and an unbeatable deal compared to shelling out so much for unused cable every month. I was duly warned that HDTV antennaes are fickle and every apartment is different, but luckily I found this on the first try. Highly recommend.

I bought this antenna to use with the Samsung UN46D7000 digital tv. I was tired of paying for basic cable when I can get the same or more channels for free.
Every situation is different but I had to put the antenna in the window sill next to the window and stood it on top of a small box to give the antenna some height. After I did this the antenna pulled in about 27 channels clearly. You may also have to move the antenna to the left or right to find that "sweet spot" where all channels come in clearly but once you find this spot you should not have to move it anymore. Remember if you are moving the antenna trying to find the spot, rescan your channels to update the tv.

This indoor antenna works best placed in a window.
So if you have a window ledge it will work best there.
I found that if you will place the antenna on top of a thin stable box in the window ledge it works the best. A little height gives you the best reception. After placing the antenna on top of a stable box in the window ledge scan the channels again to see if you get all that are available.
If you need to move the antenna to the left or right do so only slightly until you find the "sweet spot" to get all channels perfectly.
After I got the antenna on top of a slim box inside the window ledge all my 27 channels come in perfectly.

I live Downtown surrounded by large buildings and while I find the antenna needs to by a window to get the reception to get all channels it does jut that. It gets all channels and gives a very good picture. Considering I what it has to contend with I am happy with it.

Using an indoor antenna is always a guessing game as to the reception that will be available due to the quirks in construction and obstruction that vary from place to place. Still, the FDTV1A has out-performed all the others I've attempted to use in our dwelling, including a TERK earlier model. Still, because of the anomalies of our situation, although every station could be improved with this unit, just not all at the same time without re-adjusting positioning and orientation, it turns out we will have to be investing in other means of keeping my wife's TV tuned to her satisfaction. But this is no fault of this antenna, just the nature of indoor antennas in general. If it had been miles better than the competition, it might have been different, but, it was only marginally better than everything else I've tried. Still, it was better.

I'd been told this doesn't have to be next to the window. But unless we stand holding the antenna next to the window we only get one channel. And we're on the 8th floor near the river. Supposedly pretty clear shot for all channels. Oh well.

I have a HDTV in my second home in Miami. Since I don't live there full time I did not want to pay monthly cable or satellite bills. So I opted for over the air broadcasts and internet programs. The digital antenna gave me 22+ stations and outstanding digital HDTV reception. I thought perhaps 3 channels, I am amazed at what I can get w/o cable in Miami.

I wouldn't have given this product any stars but that wasn't an option. After reading all of the good things about this antenna I was excited to get it set up, but I was very disappointed with the results. I was able to receive even fewer channels that the built in antenna on my HDTV. It wasn't 30 minutes before I had it boxed back up and requested a return. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is a waste of money and time.

Easy to setup. Excellent for picking up local digital channels in your area. Couldn't get my local channels in HD. With this product I know have 11 local channels in HD. Only complaint is that they supply you with a pretty short coaxial cable running from TV to the Antenna.

Took it out of the box, plugged it in, put in on a windows sill, set the tv menu selection to "antenna" and instantly had 12 channels show up. Could not have been easier. Great product. The channels actually look better than they did when I had cable.
