This is a 25 pack of Pearl White 2-Ply 11 x 14" Conservation Mat Board from Archival Methods. Made from alpha-cellulose pulp from purified wood fiber, it's more economical to produce then traditional cotton paper. However, the long-term stability is the same. This kind of paper is famous for being safe to use with paper artwork, photographs and documents.
It is acid- and lignin-free and uses alkaline or neutral sizing. The boards are buffered with calcium carbonate for added protection and longer life. Pearl White has a warm tonality as opposed to Archival Method's Bright White Museum Board. It has a similar look as antique white but with less yellow. This board has similar characteristics to cotton pulp paper with a surface that is almost the same.

This is good quality stuff. I bought it because I was looking for a high quality, archival backing for matted images. I use 4 ply for the front, and two ply on the back for my hinged mat jobs. Pearl white is slightly off-white, but since this was used strictly for backing, it didn't bother me. It is acid-free, and that was what I was looking for. Cheaper than using 4 ply for front and back.

I used this product for mounting digital images for a photography class. I liked it because the color complimented all of my pictures and i didn't have to deal with the clash of the print and the mat board. I didn't like it because when I applied heat to the board, when tacking my, it warped and bended up, making the presentation a step below.

The paper is not white it's an off white. The paper itself is not so thick or sturdy. I bought it to mount pictures for my photography class and ended up buying the more expensive ones.

I ended up having to fuse two sheets together to make the board stiff enough for mounting photos. But, that is NOT due to the product...it is due to the photographer NOT ordering 4 - 5 ply! :}

Very thin, however it is only 2 ply. Cut nicely, good for general display... nothing serious though.

Pearl white is slightly yellow, but that was okay for my purposes. I used this for backing on a hinged, mat frame. It was ideal because it was cheaper than using 4 ply, and since it is backing, the color doesn't really matter.
