I use the 10-24 mostly for interiors where it can actually cover an entire room when shooting from a corner. It yields beautifully crisp results at f8 with surprising consistency from corner to corner through the entire zoom range. I find I'm shooting most often at the widest focal lengths. Once I got accustomed to the super-wide perspective, I was amazed that zooming to 24mm seemed like going to a short tele.
It is very useful in getting an unusual perspective on scenes and people, especially if you are willing to forego a rigidly horizontal view. Shooting with the subject across the diagonal, especially while looking up or down on it has produced interesting and useful, if somewhat unconventional, images. The lens' excellent close focusing ability, coupled with its wide view has gotten my creative juices pumping.
The lens balances very nicely on my D-90 with battery pack. Build quality is high.

Have used this lens a few months now. It isn't up to Nikon's fit and finish standards. The focus and zoom functions are not as smooth as I've experienced in the past on other lenses. It's not as sharp as I would expect for a Nikon lens. I'll have to try to find a non-zoom lens wide enough to do what I need to do. This lens is ok for a snapshoot type lens. And eventually I may find a setting for the lens that will yield the results I need.

i love street photography, the people, the city. and that is what this lens does for me. sharp focus, perfect angles.
had a hard time, thought about the half price sigma 10-20 and tokina 11-16. well built third party lens but in the end, i knew in the future i would never be satisfied (always curious) about the extra quality the nikon would bring. so i just went ahead and invested in it.
i only carry this lens and a 50mm prime.
just came back from 9 days in thailand and shot maybe 1k pictures of it. perfect.

Though I'm not a professional photographer, I've taken a number of photo courses while in college and have taught basic photography classes as an Art Teacher. The 10-24mm wide angle fulfills my long-time desire to have a lens that captures an image in a way that is much more natural by including the peripheral aspects through the viewfinder as we would naturally "see" those images and it does this without the distortion caused by the "fish-eye" lens.

Great wide angle lens with very little distortion. So for those of you wanting a 'fish eye' effect this is not the lens for you, the DX10-24mm is equivalent to a 'full-frame' 15-36mm. At f3.5 this is not what I would classify as a fast lens, but for my uses (studio and seascape) it's the perfect compromise.

Overall , this is a very good lens , as expected prominent distortions present at 10 mm. This lensproducesbetter overall picture quality than Sigma 10-20 and the zoom range is good. Due to distortions 12-24 range is preferred.

it's super wide. you need to get a flash mount because the in camera flash on the nikon casts a huge shadow over the frame of this wide lens.
but it's minimum focus is incredible and it just has just the right amount of distortion at it's wides which is great.

The Images I get from the 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G are sharp. But it does have a healthy dose of distortion. Especially at the wide end. But if you shoot at a flat plane you should be able to correct any distortion with third party software. I LOVE the fact that I can stop down to 10mm and get a fantastic point of view with this glass. It lets you create a deeper perspective that any others I've tried for DX cameras. Simply put, I love it. It's not as pro built as the 12-24mm so don't go banging into anything too hard. This is part of my carry-all pack.

I purchased this lens for a return trip to Utah with my son. My last trip I borrowed a 14mm f/2.8 from a friend, my son used the 14mm on this trip. I was very happy with the versatility of the 10-24mm. It's amazing how much wider just 4mm is from the 14mm. I very pleased with the pictures I took with this new lens, its definitely staying in my bag.

My friend had purchased this and allowed me to try it on my D7000. After doing so, I immediately wanted my own because of the range it had and clarity. Compared to the 12-24mm, the extra 2mm makes a huge difference and opens everything up. If you're going to do work that requires capturing a lot of space or want amazing landscape shots, this is your lens.I had originally purchased this on another website (will not mention who), but it was backordered for more than a month and I had to have this lens before going to Alaska.
