Comments about MvixUSA Ultio HD Media Player:
The Ultio HD Media Player was purchased to complement rather than replace the MacMini in the lounge room. Using it simply as a media playing device, it did a far better job than the MacMini.
Installing the HDD was very easy, as was the formatting and setting up of the device. The picture quality generated from this at full resolution was outstanding. I have it paired to a Sony Bravia 52". The supported codecs allowed be very simple transfer od y digital files without the need to convert them to an Apple supported codec (yes, I know about Perian). Does a far better job of showing yor digital content than Apple TV.
My only gripe is that it does not record, but I knew this before purchasing.

Comments about MvixUSA Ultio HD Media Player:
The product was essentially without Technical Support, and as described below quite poor in its performance. RECOMMENDATION for the MVIX Ultio Media Server:1) The server is sluggish when using remote control to switch from one choice to another, sometimes it takes 2-3minutes, if you press twice or more it further delays and jumps your previous choices.2) The technical support is premitive, as soon as you get them on the phone, I could tell their anxiety to let you go, they claim to be busy with other customers. Half the time, their solutions are defunct, they need to do more research and call you back, of which they never will.3) The server lacks an LCD Screen to see your choices being displayed. [...] has this feature.4) The packaging and accessories is great, but lacks the functionality that they claim on their storefront. 5) I treid it using Play ON as my remote server for viewing Hulu TV, and found that MVIX Ultio is not quite compatible with Play On. A majority of the movies and tv shows on Hulu TV would not stream.

Comments about MvixUSA Ultio HD Media Player:
I have purchased and used many Mvix products before... and this is one of the best ones till date. I got this unit about a month back and placed a 1.5 TB HDD inside and followed the simple instructions to format the drive and transfer files. The file formats supported for playback are a bit overwhelming: this device will playback almost any media file. The highest quality files .mkv files to .mp3 to .jpg, it plays any format that I throw at it to the point that if it won't play on the Ultio then I blame the file (its that easy!). It's also network capable with an ethernet connection on the back and two usb ports.
One downside I found was the length of time it took to transfer all of my files: over 6 hours for 1.2 TB of music and video from three drives simultaneously. Updating the firmware is simple and straight forward as is downloading and installing the network programs on the device.
Their tech support has been phenomenal. Had one interaction with them - and needless to say they were fast and to the point. Made the experience pleasurable.
The wireless G adapter that they sell with this device is quite big. So big that it can block other USB ports. Mvix knows this and included a short USB extension cable to prevent this obese beast from hogging all the space
All in all, I would recommend Mvix products to many who are looking for convenient alternatives to playing any media files on their entertainment system or perhaps just for convenient wireless peripherals. These guys make very good products

Undoubtedly this is one of the best players out there and the price is ridiculously good. Very impressive playback and navigation experience. Torrent, Samba and UPnP make this a real "ultimate" device. The 1080p video playback is slick and crisp. Overall very happy with my purchase.

This is a great implementation of a streamer. Great specs and features. Reads any file I've thrown at it so far. My intent is to store all of my physical media in a closet and have music, DVD's and JPG's all on a big 8TB NAS. This thing will serve it all up in multiple rooms at the same time.

Comments about MvixUSA Ultio HD Media Player:
I ordered this unit to replace the WDTV. I wish I could say that it blows away the WDTV, but. . . it doesn't. Video is great! Plays everything I throw at it without a hiccup. It's the audio that causes the problems. For example, MvixUSA advertises that the Ultio will pass DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD to your receiver. It doesn't. You're still limited to core DTS and plain Dolby. Maybe it will be fixed in a firmware update, but who knows? If you want to play music, again you're out of luck. IT PLAYS ONE SONG AT A TIME! I've had several music servers and all except the Ultio would play all the songs in a folder before it stoped. Not the Ultio. When a song ends, you have to manually go to the next song and hit play. I don't have a playlist for every album I have and shouldn't have to make one. MVixUSA says they are considering this for a future firmware. Who knows? The user interface is basic, I mean really basic. No thumbnails, etc. MVixUSA IS responsive to questions and I am going to keep the unit because of it's great video performance. If MVixUSA fixes the problems, it will be a great player. Until then, it's just mediocre. I would recommend this player for video only. I really like the picture. Unfortunately, I like listening to music also, this player doesn't cut it for music.
