This Octodome puts off a killer quality of light for it's size. It's built quite durably, but is still light weight. The only problem I have is the hot shoe connector which seems rather weak.

I use it with Nikon SB900 and with Profoto AcuteB and Acute2 heads ( with a speedring ) on location. It is easy to carry and set up . Like it.

I needed an easily transportable light modifier for my Canon Speedlite and this fits the bill wonderfully. I shoot lots of portraits on the run, bartenders, chefs, actors in hotel rooms. Often in situation where there isn't time and space to bring a full lighting kit.

So far this has done a great job with my Canon 580ex on a light stand. The quality of light is beautiful and it only takes a couple of minutes to put together and pack down.

Quick setup, durable material, good control soft light with different setup options. Portability is great for outdoors and location shooting. Portrait is great, not sure about group or couples though.

I use this soft box with a Metz 50 AF-1 and a PocketWizard Plus II. The soft box is easily assembled. A little bit of force is required to insert the last couple rods in the speed ring. Everything feels high quality. The product comes with two cold shoes (one for a shoe mount flash and one for a radio receiver.) I found that I didn't like the configuration with the PocketWizard placed directly behind the flash. I didn't have easy access to the manual controls on the flash. Consequently, I don't use the second cold shoe for my radio receiver. I velcro the PocketWizard to my light stand. Besides this one minor complaint, it's an excellent product. I use it for portraits either for a key light or for hair light.

I'm a pro photographer, shooting mostly portraits, in a very "nervous" way. Meaning I have 5 to 10mn to produce as good pictures as possible. I always use my softboxes handheld, attached to an EZbox extending handle - in my left hand, and with my right hand I hold and operate the camera... This goes very fast, much faster than explaining an assistant how to put the light. So the small size and lightweight of this octodome are crucial to me, but finally what amazes me the most is the result : it makes a real difference compared to a square / rectangular box, even a bigger one. The skin looks softer, the light is smoother, IT WORKS !! I never thought it would work so well. Especially coming from such a small lighting surface. The double diffuser adds even more softness... I am so happy with it, I think I'm going to buy another one. The same.

Perfect for portaits and Weddings, wish I had it a long time ago. Strobists will appreciate this quality built product. So easy to set up. Make sure that the kit you buy has the basic strobe connector and the shoe flash adapter at the very least. As for the tripod mount, I ordered the Manfrotto 026 swivel umbrella adapter and mount it on my Manfrotto 5001B light stand, a perfect combo(use a sandbag for stability). Comes with a removable inner baffle & outer diffuser. My 580EX II fits perfectly and if it isn't too far I can use my other 580EX II to remotely control the flash. Of course I can always use the pocket wizard TT5 for outdoors or far distances. Order the matching Grid for this, you'll want it to control spillage. The only bad thing about it is, they've raised the price due to it's popularity. David Honl has a video about this product, see it in action.

I love its versatility despite it's compact size. Easy to assemble. Creates beautiful lighting.

I would like the option of a grid or the gold reflective inner surface like larger versions of the OctoDome have.

Small and very versatile addition to any ones lighting set up.Perfect for on location shoots when you want to use a flash.I use this for portraits in studio in addition to my Bowens studio strobes and on the fly.

We are happy we bought the kit. We have used this baby with both our monolights and our speedlights. This unit is very adaptable and we are able to quickly change the quality, quantity and put light where we want it.

This is a great addition to your lighting equipment. The materials are durable and the metal parts designs are perfect if you are using Pocket Wizard. Excellent choice for outdoor portraits.

I love the portability of the soft box. Already used on 2 outdoor shoots for fill and as a key light, very versatile and extremely easy to set up. Can't beat the price.

The kit is less expensive than buying the components individually.The XS Dome is good for fill lighting opposite the Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Small 3'er but would not consider it for a large lighting task on it's own.

This soft box is particularly useful with a shoe-type camera flash, used off-camera, as the the principal fill or key light. The near-round shape of the soft box provides a nice round catch light in the eyes of portrait subjects and provides soft lighting as the sole light for small product shots. Used with a more powerful flash, such as a Quantum flash or something in the 200 WS range, this soft box will cover a small group nicely. Sets up and comes apart quickly and packs nicely in its provided carry-bag. It has an inner and an outer diffusion baffle, and one can use one or both.

This is a very well made Light diffuser, easy to put together although first time a bit slower but only talking a few minutes. Mainly use for portraits and weddings which still experimenting with but see this as a valuable accessory in my kit.
