Photoflex XS OctoDome nxt Basic Kit - 1.5' (45.7cm) Diameter
This is a Photoflex XS Silver OctoDome Basic Kit. It includes a 1.5' diameter OctoDome softbox, adapter ring, shoe flash adapter, swivel mount and light stand.
The Photoflex Xtra Small - 1.5' (45.7cm) Diameter OctoDome nxt softbox is designed for use with strobes or hot lights up to 1000 watts. Its circular design provides diffused light that is as wide as it is tall. It has a graduated internal baffle that eliminates hotspots and illuminates your subject evenly head to toe. Its narrow profile gives you more versatility in small rooms. Use this size for head-and-shoulders portraits or interviews.

Did some research on a small soft box for a key light, babies & small product photography. It was a toss up between the Joe McNally version of the Ezybox and this Octodome. This choice won out because I bought the whole kit for the same approximate price of the Ezybox.
Right out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the Photoflex quality. Everything felt pro! The stand was heavy and solid, the umbrella swivel was equally robust. The soft box and speed ring are all very well made. I'm using this with small flash, but I love how it could also be used for studio lights down the road if I wanted to. Very versatile purchase in that regard.
I fumbled the first time putting the soft box together, but after I did it once, it's easy and sets up quick. The quality of light is very soft, wrapping and diffused nicely for being a smaller source. The double diffusion is the bomb! I lit a family (of 3) portrait with it and it was still very nice light. Fits in the camera bag when packed down. Totally awesome product, 5 stars all the way and I will totally buy more Photoflex products in the future!

I'm an advanced amateur, and needed a good softbox for my Bower flash. This one does the trick. Sturdy, durable, and easy to setup. Great if you have 1-2 persons to photograph, or to use as a hair light for a one person photo, or as a fill. Keep in mind that it's 12", so it's not going to get great coverage (for 1/2, 3/4 and full, you want a small, medium, and large octobox, respectively). The stand extends quite long, but anything over 6 feet will require a ballast to keep it steady. The heavy duty swivel takes a little getting used to, but it's a breeze afterward. Recommended purchase for anyone with a speedlite and wants a softbox.

The OctoDome nxt itself is great and produces a nice soft light when put up close to the subject.
I'm giving this Kit only 3 stars because of the light stand. Very flimsy, in no way is it air cushioned. When I received the kit in the mail, I put it together. The light stand, out of the box had one of the height adjusting screws, thread stripped, so it doesn't hold the height at all.
I had to replace the light stand with a manfrotto stand from a local dealer.
If you do want to buy the OctoDome, buy it separately and purchase a better light stand. Don't buy the kit light stand.

The OcoDome nxt softbox in no doubt is great, goes together quick, and produces a nice soft light, when put up close to the subject.
I'm giving this kit only 3 stars because the light stand is basically, junk. It looks solid, but in no way is it solid. Its not at all air cushioned. When I received the package in the mail, I put the kit together, and the adjusting screw for the height had a stripped thread. It doesn't hold the height at all. I always look after my gear, as I want it to last me for years.
I ended up buying a manfrotto stand from a local dealer to replace this stand.
I recommend to anyone buying the octoDome to buy it separately and buy an alternative stand.

I am really happy with this purchase. I like the heavy duty swivel mount and shoe flash adapter. The stand seems like it is a good quality product as well. I have only used it once, but it did exactly what is made to do. The softbox was fairly easy to assemble. I like the size of this softbox as it is portable and easy to move around .
