This is a Photoflex OctoDome3 Kit. It is based on the small 3' (91cm) diameter OctoDome³ softbox, which is designed for use with strobes only, with modeling lights up to 500 watts. Its circular design provides diffused light that is as wide as it is tall. It has a graduated internal baffle that eliminates hotspots and illuminates your subject evenly head to toe. Its narrow profile gives you more versatility in small rooms.
Use this size for 1/2-length portraits of 1 - 2 people.
Note: the included Photoflex Basic Speed Ring does not include an adapter for a specific light. Consult our website or speedring chart for your unit.

This is a really useful tool. Bigish enough to provide good light coverage, yet small enough to be quite portable. With the extra grid you can have speculative light too. The 3' Octodome is the one I will use most everywhere.

Wow, I was so excited to get this kit! When you order this kit, you get everything you need to start shooting:
Photoflex Small OctoDome3 Multi 3' #FV-MOD3KIT
Photoflex Medium LiteStand #LS-B2214
Photoflex HeavyDuty Swivel #AC-ALSWMTB
Photoflex Adjustable ShoeMount Hardware #AC-B222SM
Photoflex Basic Octoconnector
It was a little confusing to put together for me because I'd never assembled a softbox of any kind. I've only used shoot through umbrellas but once I figured it out I was eager to test it with my strobe. Amazing the difference between a bare strobe, a shoot through umbrella, and the octodome. I just might have to save up for the 5' one too!
I picked the octodome because I do a lot of on-location shoots. I've been using a shoot through umbrella with my Canon 430EX flash. When shooting in very large venues or rooms with high ceilings or dark walls, I found I wasn't getting the best results. I decided I need to keep the light from spilling out the back of the umbrella, and try to push all of the light foward in these situations. I wanted to keep the catch light in the eyes the same shape, because I wasn't a huge fan of square catch lights from square soft boxes. So I decided to go with the octodome for a similar umbrella shape in the eyes but with the results that come from a soft box. I am in love!!!
If you already have a stand/strobe adapters/etc, you might consider ordering the octodome by itself. But if you are going to need the whole works... This kit rocks!

I've been using a number of different sofboxes with my Nikon Spaceflights and this is the best yet. It goes together easily, stays together and does a fantastic job. I am thinking about getting a set of the small strip boxes to see if they do as well.

I now have the set! 3', 5' and the 7 footer!!!! I love'em! Great setup. I use them with my Elichrom A Heads.... portable light setup for beach, and city/model shoots.
Octodome is easy to setup and take down, light weight, and more importantly produces some great light. It is a sweet system!

Been using a friends set for the past year, finally got my own. Great setup. Use it with a single strobe as an easily portable light setup for city/model shoots.
Octodome is easy to setup and take down, light weight, and more importantly produces some great light. The stand and attachments are very sturdy and heavy enough withstand normal amounts of wind outside.
