Just because you don't have room for a big HDTV doesn't mean you can't have big HDTV performance. The ViewSonic VT2230 Widescreen LCD HDTV may be small in size, but it delivers the goods as well as any larger set. It's a great choice for a kid's room, kitchen, den, home office, or anywhere space is at a premium.

Key to the ViewSonic's big performance is its no-compromise 1920 x 1080 full HD LCD panel. Advanced image processing and a fast 5ms video response rate combine to produce clear, detailed pictures, while the set's high 300 cd/m2 brightness and 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio generate rich, vivid colors.

You'll easily tune in local digital, HD, and standard broadcasts, courtesy of the set's integrated ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner, in addition to programs from your cable or satellite provider.

The ViewSonic VT2230 also comes with all the inputs you'll need to enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies, digital photos and videos, and that growing collection of games for your entertainment console. There are HDMI and component jacks for your digital devices, and S-Video and composite connections for legacy equipment such as VCRs.

The VT2230 also can be used as a superb, space-saving PC monitor. Just plug your desktop or notebook PC into the 15-pin VGA jack, connect an audio cable to the monitor, and you're all set.

When you need big performance from a small-footprint HDTV/monitor, consider the ViewSonic VT2230. It delivers premium enjoyment where space is at a premium.

Full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD Panel
TV broadcasts, DVD movies, and computer games will look their best when viewed on this set's full HD display. You and your friends will experience a new level of picture clarity, detail, and richness when you turn on this HDTV.

Advanced Image Processing
The ViewSonic's advanced ClearPicture image processing virtually eliminates noise, while increasing contrast and detail, and optimizing color for rich, vibrant pictures. You'll notice how good high-definition images look, and even see an improvement in standard television images.

5ms Video Response
The faster the video response, the clearer the picture, and this set clocks in at an impressive 5ms. You'll benefit from a sharp image with minimal ghosting and distortion.

High 300 cd/m2 Brightness
Another key characteristic of the VT2230 is its high brightness (300 cd/m2), which means you'll have flexibility in where you put your set. Go ahead and place this HDTV in any convenient location. Whether near a window, door, or other light source, the TV will still deliver a bright, vivid picture.

8000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
You'll be delighted by the superb definition and detail of the ViewSonic's picture, courtesy of its high dynamic contrast ratio. Colors appear deeper and darker under virtually all room lighting conditions.

Integrated ATSC/NTSC/QAM Tuner
With the switch to digital broadcasting, there's been some concern about which signals a TV can receive. That's not an issue with the ViewSonic VT2230. The set's built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuning system means you'll be able to choose from the full range of digital broadcast sources, HDTV, cable, and analog signals.

HDMI Input with HDCP Support
The available HDMI input jack lets you enjoy pure digital video and audio through a single cable from equipment such as a Blu-ray disc player. HDCP support means you'll have no problem receiving the signal from your connected devices.

Component Video Inputs
By using the component video inputs, you'll obtain a clearer video image than with composite inputs. For devices without HDMI jacks, this option is your best bet.

PC VGA Input
If you're short of desk space in a kid's room or home office, the ViewSonic VT2230 can solve the problem by doing double duty as a PC monitor. Just connect your PC or laptop to this set's VGA input jack, and you're in business.

Comments about Viewsonic VT2230 22" Widescreen LCD HDTV:

This product was bought primarily because of value for money and adaptability (it benefits me greatly that it has composite, s-video, component and VGA inputs (it also has HDMI inputs but I don't use HDMI very often)).

Unfortunately, I was very dismayed to discover that only one of the 6 or so PC screen resolutions that it is capable of displaying is actually widescreen (in other words all of the screen resolution choices except for one (1920x1080) are 4x3 aspect ratio. This is completely unacceptable in a widscreen LCD.

Comments about Viewsonic VT2230 22" Widescreen LCD HDTV:

I have one 52" LG HDTV and TWO of these VT2230s.

I edit video and I already had one 2230, as a secondary tuner, for breaking news, bad Texas weather, and a side channel for sports ... I also bought the 1st one because it has an analog audio out, to run thru my mixer, while watching Austin City Limits, because my LG only has digital audio out. .. running digital thru my PC caused annoying synch delay so I needed real-time analog.

This is the smallest true 1080P monitor on the market and now, with the second VT2230 situated beside the first one (both centered below my 52" LG5250), I can stretch my NLE editing timeline across both "monitors", on the bottom, and preview output on the large LG, above. ... 22" is a little small, for 1080P, but it does work and crisp enough.

CONS?: BRIGHT BLUE LED right below the screen (What?!) ... Have to use black electrical tape to black it out. Remote is a bit sluggish and requires fairly directional "pointing" ...
Maybe a little deeper and heavier, than some, but not bad at all ... Only tilts "UPward" but that works great, for me.

GREAT Program Guide detail !! Much more info about the hours/programs to come, than my expensive LG5250 ! Pulls in more stations even better than my LG, too !

I did (still do) plan on replacing these with a couple of 28" 1200P "true" monitors, in a few years, but I already had one of these and they are cheap. When I do replace them, I will perch them on the tops of my Raxess 21U eco racks, which flank my LG-LCD ... but gotta figure out how to angle them downward ... VESA MOUNTS ! (TOO).

Very versatile, for the money ... not an extremely vivid image, but not bad (at all), really ... Very versatile/flexible with I/O galore! ...

Nope ... Not bad, for the money .. glad they were still making them, so I could get a matching pair.

Comments about Viewsonic VT2230 22" Widescreen LCD HDTV:

Among a variety of reasons to skip this one are a menu system that gives you approximately one to two seconds to make a choice before it disappears and obliges you to start over, an input selection mechanism that works when using the remote but not when using the buttons on the display, the most extraordinarily awkward, clumsy, and inconvenient input connector locations you could imagine, a complete lack of adjustment of position, image quality that a good VGA would top without raising a sweat, audio quality reminiscent of the crystal radio sets of seventy years ago . . . shall I continue?

Comments about Viewsonic VT2230 22" Widescreen LCD HDTV:

This product competes strictly on the basis of price. Its image and sound quality leave so much to be desired that using it as a television receiver assures disappointment. The sound quality is particularly bad. We bought it to use as a camera monitor on a movie set. In that capacity, it is only marginally acceptable. For anything more, look elsewhere.

I should have purchased a tv that I could see in a store. All in all I am not very pleased with the Viewsonic television. I have cable and it doesn't get all the channels. The first notch on the sound is too loud. There is no clock. The picture is not very good. The sound is not very good. I would not recommend buying this tv.
