The SVGA resolution Viewsonic PJD5111 is described by its manufacturer as a "light, bright and portable projector" and we have to agree. It's light at just 5.1 pounds and it's certainly bright with an output of 2500 lumens at a 2000:1 contrast ratio. It measures just 10.4 x 3.8 x 8.6 inches so it's definitely portable.
But it's the features they've managed to pack into that light and portable package that makes the PJD5111 so impressive. It uses the renowned Texas Instruments Digital Light Processor Digital Micromirror Device (DLP DMD) with an innovation TI calls BrilliantColor for its display panel, the part that creates the image.
BrilliantColor ensures a crisp, vivid true-to-life image even when there's a lot of ambient light to punch through. As a bonus DLP devices don't require filters that have to be periodically cleaned and replaced
The PJD5111 does a great job with all kinds of images. It can project in NTSC, NTSC 4.43, and PAL types B, D, G, H, I, M, N, and 60. Of course it does several standard and enhanced definition modes and 720p and 1080i high definition. It's also both PC and Macintosh compatible (you may require an adapter for the Mac).
Although you can permanently mount the PJD5111 in a tabletop, ceiling or rear projection configuration, at only 5.1 pounds it makes an excellent portable projector too. If you present on the go you'll find the Direct Off feature particularly useful. When you're done presenting you don't have to wait around for the projector lamp to cool down. You can just unplug the projector and be on your way.
Permanently mounted or on the go the PJD5111's Eco Mode will save you time and money. In Eco Mode lamp jumps from a very respectable 3000 hours up to 4000 hours while the whisper-quiet 30 db fan noise drops to an even lower 26 dB.
If you're looking for a power-packed portable at a palatable price point the PJD5111 may be just the projector you need.

Comments about Viewsonic PJD5111 SVGA Multimedia Projector:
The brightness was pretty good. I use it in a room that has a lot of natural light coming in through the windows, but I can still see a good image projected on my wall. The resolution is kind of low (800x600), but it's permissible given the price of this unit. Overall great value!

Comments about Viewsonic PJD5111 SVGA Multimedia Projector:
We are using this projector in a classroom setting and it performs very well.
It is easy to set up and bright enough for clear presentations in a normally lighted room.
Comments about Viewsonic PJD5111 SVGA Multimedia Projector:
This product is suspended 22 feet in the air above a Roller Skating Rink Floor. It is connected via RGBHV cabling with a HD-15 adapter. It is receiving a 800x600 resolution picture from a PC running Video Jockey Software. The picture looks great. HD .wmv and quicktime files look stunning on a 18.5 foot diagonal 4:3 screen.
Absolutely can't beat the price

I use this for watching dvds and playing my Xbox 360
This may only be an SVGA projector but before you judge the resolution I suggest you see one for yourself. Just so long as you don't sit very close to where you are projecting, I think you will find it's very good for the price. Overall it's a great product that is bright enough to work well even in well lit rooms. The bulb life is on par, and really the only way to get better life is with a much weaker projector.

Comments about Viewsonic PJD5111 SVGA Multimedia Projector:
I use mine to watch movies and play my PS3 and it is incredible. If you've never played MGS4 on a 12' screen you haven't lived. The dark/light contrast is better than I expected for the price and the 2500 lumens is enough to light up the screen with broad daylight filling the room.
