If you are looking to be a pro writer then there is no other software to use. It takes a little time to understand all the different functions that it has to assist the writing process. I have used the free celtx and movie magic screenwriter; and though these two programs are effective at writing a screenplay Final Draft makes it the most efficient.

I'm currently writing a screenplay and Final Draft has made the process exponentially more effective and prosperous.
As someone whose knowledge of screenwriting and film is entirely organic, this program made completing my script less daunting and I'm not sure what I would have done without it.
If you have a notebook full of ideas and finally need to get them organized in print, this program will help your progress immediately.
If you want to write a script but have no idea where to start or how to execute your plan, you NEED Final Draft.
I received this as a gift so I'm not sure of the exact price, but it's a bargain at any price because anybody truly serious about screenwriting can't put a price tag on realizing their dreams!

Final Draft 8.0 seems like a really great solution to screenwriting. This is the first application I have bought for screenwriting but from everything I have heard and asked of my friends, it is the way to go. One of the features that I think is really cool is that you can assign voices to the characters. This way, you can let your computer read your script to you and envision the different characters reading their lines.

There is no screenwriting software that increases criativity, but Final Draft gave me the right tools to work with mine. Having a correctly formated screenplay helps cast and crew to see not only their parts but the film as a whole. As a writing tool, such facilites as the SmartType, spelling checker in several languages, Dual Dialogue option, and many others make the writing easier. In literature, the text is the final step of the creative process, but in film and tv, the text is the first one. So, in order to make a good first step, Final Draft 8.0 was essential to me and shall be to whoever wants/has to write professionaly or just to take a hobby seriously.
