The Bowens Gemini 500R 3-Light Kit includes 3 Gemini 500R monolights, which have the unusual ability to operate from standard AC power or from the Travelpak portable battery unit, making this powerful monolight a good choice for versatility as well as control. The simplicity of analog dials with the precision of digital control makes the Gemini 500R a joy to use. One dial easily changes output in 1 f-stop stages, another in 1/10 f-stop steps, to set power over a 5 f-stop range. One switch changes modeling light from full power, to proportional (to actual flash output), to off, or you can choose the model light level. The 500R has a card slot which will accept an optional radio trigger card compatible with the Pulsar, PocketWizard, or Litelink radio systems. And, the monolights can also be controlled (including all basic features and advanced settings from up to 32' (10 m) away with the optional Bowens RC3 IR remote handset.
In addition to the 3 monolights, this kit gives you 3 light stands, a softbox and 2 white/silver umbrellas for light modification, 2 wide angle flash head reflectors, a sync cord, a user's guide, and a rolling kit case.

Comments about Bowens Gemini 500R 3-Light Kit:
These are great lights. They may be in the mid to mid-high price range but the build quality and constant light color/quality is excellent. The stands are good for indoor use. For outdoor you will need to buy heavy duty stands that can be sandbagged down. These stock stands cant really be secured with sand bags. Umbrellas are ok, I usually dont use them. The soft box gets more use along with the Bowens snoot and beauty dish I bought. While I could have gotten similar results on the lower price kits, the small things like the professional look and build quality along with the proven reliability of the Bowens name gives me a sense of confidence that I did do the right thing by spending more for literally getting better quality. I do admit the price is fairly high especially the Bowens reflectors and accessories. But again I have peace of mind I bought quality gear that will last a long time.

Comments about Bowens Gemini 500R 3-Light Kit:
Great light set. This is my first studio light set. After doing lots of research I choose this Bowens 500R Gemini X3 set. Yes, it does cost a bit more than most 3 light sets but this is a solid "upper middle" level studio set. I thought of the lower cost entry level sets and the Alien Bees at first. But after looking at the actual equipment quality I see why the price is lower on those other units. This set is well built and performs beyond expectations. Durable enough to be brought to locations. I will have to change the stands to the century type in order to sand bag them if I do an outdoor shoot though. Bright and even lighting which is great for head shots or portrait. Not very flexible for detailed control on shaping the light with the 2 umbrellas and softbox. I ended up spending another $1000 on the Bowens Maxilite reflector, hi performance reflector, snoot, grids and beauty dish with the diffuser. With these additional items I am able to shape and angle the light in specific paths like I wanted too. Those additional accessories are over priced in my opinion. I saw similar 3rd party items on ebaay for a third of the price the Bowens stuff. But I assume Bowens did some research and development on making their add on products work to the best possible effect with their lights. So you pay for the best quality even though it may not be porportional to the price difference. One fault which I cant really pin down to B&H or Bowens. The set I got was used. 1 light didnt work, another made a loud humming sound, missing softbox, case was scuffed and dinged, ect. Looks like a return was sent to me for some reason. [...] Overall great product. Expensive compared to other 3 light sets, but this is something that won't be "grown out of" in a year. If I could do it all over again, I would probably go with the Bowens power block and heads. But even now I am reluctant to spend double the price for that set up. Something for me to think and wish upon, but I really doubt I will ever "upgrade" my current set.

Comments about Bowens Gemini 500R 3-Light Kit:
I use this kit for location Portraits and this kit is very easy to carry and set-up even though I do not have the battery back Yet. I love the way the pocket wizards is in the system and not just a wire hanging down that can be broken.
I can't wait to get the battery for the system.
I wish this kit would have come with 3 soft boxes instead of the two umbrellas.

After searching for a good quality lighting set, this is the one,the quality of light power is exceptional , got the one with 3 of 500-watts,just used it only in half power, combine with NIKON 24-70-mm 2.8 lens result are magnificent.
Will definily recommend this set, just have to return the soft box, because its not the one that supposed to be with the set.

Comments about Bowens Gemini 500R 3-Light Kit:
Got the Kit and everything was great! Bowens is a really good company and for a mid-level photographer these lights are great!
Instructions to assemble the Soft Box wasnt exactly the best, neither is the manual on how to use the lights. However the stands are solid - things go really high and the lights and reflectors are solid also. The bag is pretty sturdy - could be better on the actual dolly it comes with but nevertheless It feel it's secure enough.
This is my first light kit and I spent months researching my needs an what would best fulfill them versus price. It was either this or the Profoto but no other option came close. This won simply because I got an extra light with Bowens as well as a Soft Box. Three lights will always be better than two!
