Interfit SGM400 Flex Mount for the Canon 580EX & 550EX
This is an Interfit SGM400 Flex Mount for the Canon 580EX & 550EX on-camera flash. It is an integral part of the Strobies series of flash light shapers.
There are several light shapers that work with the Flex Mount. A Snoot, Barndoor Set, Softbox, Honeycomb Grids, and Bounce Cards are available separately.
The Flex Mount is correctly fitted when your flash cannot be pushed any further inside it and is flush with the central hole.
- Color gels may be fitted inside the Flex Mount
- For best results and to avoid damage, attach any shapers before mounting the Flex Mount onto your flash

I started by buying the Interfit Strobies. I then realized that the Flex Mount was not included in the Strobies kit (the hard way)! The Flex Mount connect flawlessly with my Canon flash and the Strobies kit. I just don't understand why I wasn't promptly informed that the mount is not included with the Strobies kit. I would highly recommend the Flex Mount to use in conjunction with the Strobies kit, and in particular with the soft box and beauty dish.

It doesn't fit the flash without forcing it on. Once you do get it on it doesn't sit on the flash well. Don't waste the time and money.

I own both a Canon 580EX and a Canon 550EX flash. I like the strobies system, but the first thing that I noticed when I got this flex mount was, though it fit the 580EX fine, it does not fit the larger head of the older 550EX flash.
These flex mounts are a bit clumsy, and they fall off fairly easily, but overall, they do what they say they do. Just don't buy this flex mount for a 550EX flash.

It fits my speedlite that I use a grid with. Not much else to say. It is necessary if you use Strobies accessories.

If you buy one of these; A STR100 STROBIES PORTRAIT KIT, which is really well designed and thought out kit!
In a nutshell it's a mini portable strobist's studio kit. A go anywhere solution for smaller shoots.
The only problem that I have noticed is a feint ringlight/cast affect from the Beauty Dish, but this can be sorted by adding a small piece of diffuser paper where it connects to the flexi-mount - so really no big problem here.
Another great feature about this little kit is that if you want to use it with other strobe systems, then you just need to buy a new Flex Mount to suit!
By the way and as I discovered; This model Interfit Flex Mount fits the Sony HVLF58AM Flash.

I bought this to go together with the Interfit kit I got as a present. It works as it's supposed to. My specific copy had a defect in the holes for the softbox, but it's still usable.
My biggest gripe with the product is how gosh-darned hard it is to put the thing on my strobe. I always feel like I'm going to break my 580EX from how tight the fit is. I know it's because with time the hardened plastic will wear out and the fit will become more loose. I just wish it fit snuggly like the diffuser I have for the flash instead of feeling like forcing a round peg into a square hole.
Other than that, no reason to give it less than four stars. The annoyance with the fit robs it of five stars. If you have the strobies kit and a 580EX, you need this for it to work.
