I was hesitant when buying this product as I was asking it to do a rather demanding task. Even the store personnel wasn't sure that this would work to attach the PowerSync 16 to my NEX VG10. I did a thorough search and everything appeared to indicate that it would work without me having to shell out over $100 for Sony's adapter. Got it in the mail, tried it that night, and it works great! I just leave it on the transmitter so it's ready to pop onto my camera when I'm switching from video to photography. For the price, it can't be beat. Some reviewers commented on it being either a tight or loose fit on their shoe mount. However, things are snug as a bug on my setup. No problems.

I bought this thing so that could attach my microphone to my Sony DSLR camera though immediately after seeing the sale man test it and using it or the first time that same day that I got the piece I realized that its not all that great its tough to get off and the button to release it got stuck in the release position. Once nearly chopped half my nail off just trying to deassble the thing, and had to put glue on the seam so that it would stay in one piece. The only thing I can say that's great about the piece is that it works once you sort out the problems it has an for me stays in place a little too well even in very windy conditions

Wow I really am glad this product exists because otherwise i would not be able to attach my microphone to my Sony A33 DSLR (it's annoying that Sony is not budging with this hot shoe thing). Love this product except for when its time to take it off my camera, it will not come off til pop there goes the top half of the equipment. I am going to have to crazy glue this thing and be really careful with it now

The pricing is a no-brainer.
I use it on the Sony Alpha 77 to mount a transmitter which triggers my studio flash system.

Not so hot: sliding it on the flash mount takes a lot of force and courage!

I saw the reviews before making a purchase. Some buyers experienced a loose fit, some a tight fit. This speaks to poor manufacturing consistency or quality. The genuine Minolta/Sony product is so much more expensive, I thought it was worth the chance for this price. I am one of the "lucky" ones, as mine fits a little tight. I can trim down the mounting flange a little to loosen the fit. It would be nicer if it were manufactured to closer specs to begin with, however. It works well with my old Sunpak head/handle flash.

Fits tight on the hot shoe, but that no problem. Biggest issue is the sync cord is so loose it always falls out (and seeing as though the only reason I needed this was to attach a sync cord to my a560 it is rather annoying) I had to use a rubber band to hold it in place. But it does work, flashes fire when I press the shutter button, so it will do until I decide to drop a wad on a a radio trigger.

There is much more than flashes to fit universal shoes. Microphones and remote triggers are just some of the many gadgets that can be clipped on the top of a camera. If your Sony has a weird shoe, this adapter ends with your complaints. The PC contact is useful for connecting my Sony Alpha SLT-55 to studio flash units. The adapter has a lock that is released with ease by means of a spring opperated button. A cheap little thing with great value.

Not so great. It a very hard fit and then hard to get off. On top of that, it does not perfectly function as the button gets stuck.

Taking a class at the local college here and without this adaptor I couldn't use any of the strobes which are a vital part of this class. Because I own this now I am actually looking to purchase a complete set of strobes.

The fit to the camera is too tight. I had to do a little work on it to safely remove from camera.

Used this adapter strickly for the PC port to fire my strobes.
The fit onto my Sony hotshoe is a little tight, to the point i thought i was going to break it. However it didbt break and goes on and off without difficulty. Also the actual sync cord does not fit the pc adapter has to be held by hand. In not sure if this a adapter issue or a sync cord issue

The fact that Sony uses a different shoe mount than every other brand out there is dumb, the fact that their adapter is [$], even dumber, but this shoe adapter provides the right solution at the right price.

I bought this adapter and when I tried to remove it the sync cord stayed attached and at the same time while pulling on it to remove it , it was pulling the guts out of the adapter.

I have a Sony a300 and everyone knows that Sony doesn't play nice with others....or vice versa. Either way, a lot of things won't 'play nice' with a Sony product. I have a Vivitar 285hv which would fit a Canon or a Nikon.

Not a Sony.

So I bought this adapter and it get's the job done. It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be which is an amazing plus. I didn't expect any problems, but I certainly thought it would be a huge add-on to the rig....not so at all.

I have had no problems with it thus far and don't expect to have any.
