There are lots of adapters for cameras that have no PC port, but I needed an adapter for a flash unit that had no PC-port. The top of this is a generic non-dedicated hotshoe triggered through the female PC interface. The bottom is a plastic coldshoe with a 1/4" female thread socket imbeded. It works, and the price is right, but I wish the build quality was a little better. It feels flimsy with the plastic coldshoe mount on the bottom, and the flash unit connection on the top does not inspire confidence, but so far I have had no problems.

The quality of this product is that of a dollar store item. Yes, the price is right for a simple item; with no TTL ability, the only thing this item does is connect the positive to the negative terminal. The pros of this adaptor are straight forward and already listed.
The first con is its reliability, which gave a firing rate of 0% when triggered out of the box. Trigger was done with a standard sync cable to a Pocked Wizard Plus ii. The second issue is the screw located on top of the hotshoe, used to hold in place the negative terminal connector. This screw is does not allow a proper seating of a 430EX flash unit. I do not know is this screw will be in the way of other flash units, but I would guess it does if the flash has a screw down locking device similar to the 430EX. The third issue is the loose PC ports. When I tipped this adaptor the PC sync cord would slide right out of the terminal it was connected to (top or side location).
Internally you can see this adaptor was constructed poorly. The side PC port's negative connection is only a pressure fitting (loose at that). The positive connections are soldered as expected. After I found this out, applying side pressure to this connector allowed the unit to fire. With a 430EX, the top PC port can not be used. The 1/4" stand mount opening goes straight through into the plastic housing. There is a piece of black electrical tape covering the opening, I can only assume to keep dirt out. Be careful around wet environments, this item could short easily and may damage your flash unit.
Overall, I would avoid this adaptor. If it happens to work for you great, but make sure you have a backup plan. Use it until it fails then buy something different.

The adapter is definitely convenient, but I wish it was the full adapter that allows you to use an umbrella.

You need to tape the cord from the tranceiver to the hotshoe adapter, otherwise it falls out easily.

The adapters enable me to use speedlights at the top of my light stands. We use IR triggers for firing the lights.

It worked well with my SB0-600. There were a few times it wouldn't fire but I wasn't sure if it was the CyberSync, SB-600 or the adapter. Overall you can't beat the price.

Comments about Interfit STR116 Hot Shoe to Lightstand Adapter:
Purchased a couple of these a few months ago and had nothing but problems with my SB-600s and Pocket Wizards. The flashes were very loose and would at times randomly short the flashes. The PC connector was very loose as well and didn't make a solid connection to my PW cables. [...]

For off camera lighting this unit is great. It can only attach to threaded light stands. It would be better if there was a universal light stand adapter in the design.
Comments about Interfit STR116 Hot Shoe to Lightstand Adapter:
This adapter is great. However... I realized once I got it and started playing with my Speedlights that the speedlight stands already have this adapter built in. So this just saves you a step if you just leave it on your lightstand.

You need one of these if you use your flash off-camera and it doesn't have a pc socket. Its easy to find these adapters with a hot-shoe bottom connection...hard to find one with a 1/4" screw connection. Handy thing!

Comments about Interfit STR116 Hot Shoe to Lightstand Adapter:
I purchased four of these. When they arrived, I performed a casual inspection, and immediately noticed that they didn't all look the same. (PC Connectors skewed, differing lengths exposed, etc.)
Cheap build, and a top-side screw which prevents any of my flashes (Canon, Sigma, Vivitar) from locking into place make this piece of equipment a non-wroker for me.

With 2 PC sync ports to allow easy connection from either the top or side of the flash axis, these adapters give me peace of mind by allowing me to mount my flashes lower to the mounting point and keeping everything as stable as possible. A very simple but effective design.
