This product attaches to the top of the 580EX, Unfortunately, it is clumsy. It does not stay on long enough. Be careful when you are in a photoshoot because it just drops by itself. To avoid embarassment, just don't use it!

I've only done a few test shots on this product, but like other reviews noted, the beauty dish creates a "donut" of light - dark spot in the middle with a ring of light on the edge. Some have said solve is to put diffusion over the front of light, which I tried quick with a piece of wax paper in my kitchen and seemed to help. But have not used real diffusion film yet. Disappointing as I want to use this beauty dish on my SB-800 as a backlight for portraits when needed. I may just keep it and use it occasionally - decent price if I get a few uses out of it and if the diffusion helps may be simple fix.

I second what the other reviewer said about the ring of light. That ring carries the specular highlight-light and that's what I wanted though the whole field of light, I tried putting a diffuser on the flash, but it just killed the specular light and replaced it with soft light all the way through. Get a mini softbox instead...

I am still testing the product, but found that out of the box the light pattern thrown was odd at best...more like a ringlight than beauty dish. I shot a blank wall to find a large donut looking light with a ring of light and a big shadow in the middle... but if you put a piece of diffusion between the "beauty dish" and flex mount...the light smoothes out and is pretty darn good...

This is a great product and a great idea, however it didn't fit inside the beauty dish that I have from interfit. I have contacted them to get a replacement sent to me, however it is a little frustrating. I suppose if anything I can just tape it on.
